25.01.2022 Re-posted from a LinkedIn post: "Many Aussies are not aware of this. Yet I teach this to my students in my classroom about this man and why he is on our $2 coin. Most other Aussies have no interest in knowing this information. Hows that for ignorant? ... The man on the 2 dollar coin name is Gwoya Jungarai and he was one of the only survivors of one of the last recognised massacres of Aboriginal people, the 1928 Coniston Massacre in Central Australia. Almost every Australian has seen his face , Next time you hold a 2 dollar coin in your hand take a minute to reflect on Gwoya Jungarai. Gwoya Tjungurrayi is also spelt Gwoya Jungarai or Gwoya Djungarai he was a Walpiri-Anmatyerre man of the Northern Territory of Australia. The design of the Australian two dollar coin was inspired by a drawing of Tjungurrayi by artist Ainslie Roberts in 1988."

16.01.2022 How much did you learn about personal finance at school? Ask anyone who has taken Business Studies or Economics at school. Ask anyone who has studied for a diploma, certificate, or degree in Business or Accounting. The answer will probably be: "Not much".... It's not surprising as personal finance is not the focus of a business, economics, or accounting course. Learning how to manage your personal finances to achieve your life-long goals can be found in a dedicated financial literacy course, which should be taught from primary school and continue in high school. Then we will see a new generation of financially-savvy young adults who will have much to contribute to the workforce, and who will be individually confident and financially capable. #martinandfortuin #coffsharbour #financialliteracy #teachkidsaboutmoney #personalfinances

11.01.2022 Whether you're saving for your first home or want to save to get ahead, here are some helpful tips to fast track your deposit or make sure you have some extra money saved for a rainy day.

10.01.2022 Do you know the tricks to spotting a scam? In 2020 thus far, Australians have reported to the ACCC that we have lost $116+ million to offers such as: Investment scams, Dating/Romance scams and Threats to Life or Arrest scams.... We have fallen victim to Phishing scams, Identity theft scams, False Billing, Remote Access scams, Hacking and Online Shopping scams. We've been better at dismissing scams via Text, Postal Mail, In person, Social Networking & Mobile Apps but we're prone to Phone & Email scams. Australians aged 65+ are losing the most money to scams, while all ages living in TAS, ACT and NT can give themselves a pat on the back for losing the least amount of $$$ to scams. 09.01.2022 DO TEENS & YOUNG ADULTS KNOW THE COSTS INVOLVED IN BUYING A CAR? If they have never been through the process of buying a car or have never been explained the process, it would be difficult for them to comprehend the numerous costs involved. I hope that high-schoolers (aged 16-18yo) and other young adults are being taught the skills of how to buy a car, without placing themselves in financial difficulty and strife in later years.... I am currently teaching teens and adults about the process of buying a car using financial literacy skills. If you know of someone who would benefit from these lessons, please email [email protected] for more information. #martinandfortuin #coffscoast #coffsharbour #financialliteracy #personalfinance #financecoach #teachkidsaboutmoney #helpadultsmanagemoney

09.01.2022 I'm teaching young people how to protect themselves from #identitytheft and how #onlineshopping can be done safely. Young people, aged 18-24 years, are most susceptible to #cyberattacks, (possibly because they spend more time using the Internet than any other age-group), however, even children as young as 2-years of age, who have access to an Internet-enabled device, can be subject to cyber attacks. #martinandfortuin #coffsharbour #financialliteracy #teachkidsaboutmoney #help...adultsmanagemoney #powerinthelanguageofmoney See more

06.01.2022 I don’t think it is an exaggeration to say that financial literacy, economic empowerment, and wealth building is going to be the last leg of the civil rights movement. Because one step toward financial literacy takes you two steps toward personal empowerment. -Russell Simmons

06.01.2022 After teaching teenagers how to think about their money and after teaching them how to budget their money, then teach them how to manage their money. The basic start to managing their money would be through a financial institution. Teach them about the various financial institutions available to them for account management services. Teach them about the advantages/disadvantages of choosing each institution and the costs associated with these.... Teach them how to reduce their account management expenses and to protect their information. Teach them about strategies which they can use to manage their financial accounts. 04.01.2022 You could try taking short-cuts to grow your wealth but that usually won't serve you in the long-term. You could follow someone else's path to new experiences but you might not like where you end up. You could follow the masses and current trends for attaining wealth but you might find that you always end up back where you started.... The only way is to grow your wealth and to enjoy new experiences without regret, while also building your self-confidence, is to seek to understand yourself first and then to understand the tools which are available to you, and everyone else. It's no secret. Financial education improves lives. #martinandfortuin #coffsharbour #teachkidsaboutmoney #financialliteracy #womenandmoney

04.01.2022 Saving your cash will help you accumulate a life-saving Emergency Fund = 8 months of your monthly expenses. Hopefully, you are still able to pay the minimum on your credit card so as not to affect your Credit Score but what is more important is that you keep the roof over your head and food on the table.

03.01.2022 "Don't settle for broke" - said every parent to their child, because once 'being broke' is normal for you, it is hard to find a way out of your 'broke' state. This is an important wealth-building tip for every parent to teach their children, aged 6 years and over and, when implemented regularly, will help your child to become financially independent. As soon as you start to give your child birthday money, pocket-money or chore money, make sure that they learn that it is unwis...e to spend every cent. Only a portion of the money received or earned should be allocated to Spending, while a portion should be allocated to Saving and another portion to Sharing. The habit of Sharing money is one which reinforces in the child's mind, that they are good citizens for regularly committing to help someone other than themselves. The habit of Saving money is one which reinforces in the child's mind, that they are responsible for looking after their future needs in case of unforeseen expenses arising and not being a financial burden on their family or friends. The habit of Spending money is one which reinforces in the child's mind, that they are part of an economic cycle of buying and selling goods and services and that holding onto money only closes doors to opportunities. REMEMBER TO SAY 'THANK YOU' The practice of gratitude is a wealth-building habit, which can transform your thoughts, words and actions to bring all good things to you, and so I encourage you to say aloud or to yourself, 'Thank You' each time that you receive any money in the form of gifts, earnings or just pure luck and say 'Thank You' each time that you are able to spend, save and share your money. Financial Literacy skills will get you there. Contact [email protected] if you would like #financialindependence or if you’d like your child to learn #financialliteracy skills. #martinandfortuin #coffsharbour #helpadultsmanagemoney #teachkidsaboutmoney #powerinthelanguageofmoney
