I am fortunate to be singing with the talented Cassie Thomson and Calista Walters, and the Toowoomba Philharmonic Society Choir conducted by the lovely Cherie Vera Runciman, in the beautiful work by Handel, Alexander's Feast. 13.01.2022 Well HELLO! This page has been a bit of a ghost town the last year or so....about time to inject a little life into it! Just letting you know about a show coming up at the end of August. It is one of my all time favourite musicals......EVITA !... For the first time in over 5 years, I will be performing onstage in a full musical production, in the role of Juan Peron (husband of Evita Peron). For those of you unfamiliar with the show, here is a brief summary from broadway.com: 'Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita charts the rags-to-riches rise of the First Lady of Argentina, who won the love of her countrymen after marrying military leader-turned-president Juan Peron. Set in Buenos Aires between 1934-1952, the musical follows Eva Duarte Peron on her journey from fatherless child to ambitious actress to the most powerful woman in Latin Americaand, eventually, to a saint-like figure after her death from cancer at age 33. The events in Evita’s life are presented in song and editorialized on by the show’s narrator, Che.' This epic show will be brought to life with a fabulous local cast and creative team, on the stage of the inspiring Empire Theatre, Toowoomba. I will post snippets leading up to the show, to give you some exclusive 'behind the scenes' insight into what promises to be a fantastic show! "I'm very excited to announce the April Hitzke Benefit Concert on Saturday 29th July! With an amazing line up of talented musicians, including the Paul Edwards Quartet playing jazz hits with the dapper Nathan Hitzke, Undercover Live Music with the talented Martin Paroz , Gayle and Ian Dixon performing pop and rock hits, and ALSO some great country music from the Walsmley Brothers! Expect groovy tunes, heartfelt ballads and hits from all the decades! Tickets are ridiculously low priced at $10 per adult and $5 per child - but it's all for the love of April, who is making her way to the US for specialist treatment. April is a jazz singer, wife, and mother. She was diagnosed four years ago with a lung disease, which means she's currently trying to live AND sing with only 40% lung capacity. The funds from this concert will go directly to help her make the trek to the USA and get the specialist treatment we are praying will help to cure the problem.
