25.01.2022 Not my words, CASSE's words: "Prepare yourselves for the BEST episode of The Steady Stater podcast yet! Our good friend and Australian Regional Communities Chapter Director Martin Tye, joined Brian Czech for a RIVETING interview you're not going to want to miss"... Only hope I can live up to the hype! It will be available on Spotify podcast from Tuesday. Tune in MONDAY, SEPT. 28, at 8 AM EST!

25.01.2022 It's time to take a hard line, #zerotolerance approach to the endless #Growth economic system & its prophets. No more pussyfooting around with #GreenGrowth BS & other attempts to "manage" a fundamentally flawed & dangerous ideology. https://steadystate.org/ @SteadyStateEcon

24.01.2022 Great to see an environmental organisation, openly & without bias addressing the #population issue (with Karen Shragg)

24.01.2022 "Steady State" economic thinking gradually creeps across the world, ... better late than never! https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-01999-x

24.01.2022 It's such a shame that we live on a finite planet, ... otherwise the idea of endless economic #Growth might actually be a good one.

23.01.2022 I know, it's not PC to ask this question, but; "How many have been marginalized through their own reproductive choices?" https://overpopulation-project.com/climate-refugees-or-ove/

22.01.2022 At AUSSSE, we believe people are intelligent & can certainly fix up the mess quickly, ... if they are pointed away from "growing the economy" and towards "creating a better world". https://steadystate.org/discover/envisioning-the-good-life/

21.01.2022 Probably my last post post for a few weeks so I've chosen this from my recent Twitter feed: "The rich must stop over-consuming The poor must stop over-populating... Plan: Divert excess wealth into #education #familyplanning & #infrastructure in developing world- .. adopt Steady State Economic model so all can meet their needs & thrive harmoniously." See you all in a few weeks. https://steadystate.org/

19.01.2022 Even if you just watch the first few minutes it will be worthwhile. But warning! ... it will be hard to stop. https://tubitv.com/mo/451500/requiem_for_the_american_dream

17.01.2022 I am on from about 33 minutes...

14.01.2022 Why a Steady State Economy? Because the "growth" economy knows only that, growth. It can exist in no other state including balance. ... It must continue growing until it has exhausted all possible inputs at which point it collapses under the weight of its own impact. https://steadystate.org//uploads/CASSE_Brief_Sustainable_S

14.01.2022 Wherever I see articles referring to how we "need" #population growth, ... they almost without exception, are linked to the idea of using human fodder to drive the short term #GDP figure (so-called #Growth) & gross #consumption .. no regard for ecosystems or economic sustainability.

12.01.2022 "When it comes to "economic growth" & it's beneficiaries, ... there will always be those whose interests are secondary to the profit motive" What do you think? Is the "GDP growth" economy really about you?

10.01.2022 Do people actually believe that humanity can cause a mass extinction and there will be no consequences?

10.01.2022 The insidiousness of Australia's economy- Like a junkie it becomes addicted to the heroin of #population growth. Then, when it becomes hard to get, they say: ... "See I told you we'd get sick without it" ... & all the vested interests sing the tune.

09.01.2022 Some good news to brighten your day:

08.01.2022 Our "GDP growth" obsessed leaders have thrown the world wildly out of balance in their mad pursuit of endlessly bigger economies We are now swimming against a strengthening tide of ecological chaos .. & wonder why we're going backwards.... https://www.weforum.org//locusts-africa-hunger-famine-cov/

07.01.2022 "Beware The possibility of a substantially lower population than the UN currently projects is, of course, very welcome. Two billion fewer people by 2100 than what is widely predicted would represent hugely reduced pressure on our environment and natural resources. However, even this lower projection is one billion more than today and we are already using resources faster than they can regenerate, with devastating consequences for nature. The sooner we can end our population g...rowth, the better. These new projections do not mean that will happen. If they are to happen, they will depend on continued investment in the positive solutions which reduce population growth, and continuing to reinforce the message that small families are essential if we are to have decent lives for all on a healthy planet. If this study instead creates a perception that population will magically reduce by itself, or that a declining population is a bad thing, it could have devastating effects on global progress towards reproductive justice, sustainability and a human population in balance with our planet." https://populationmatters.org//07/20/two-billion-fewer-peo

07.01.2022 My interview with "Post Growth Australia' (from 33 minutes). Thank you to Michael Bayliss for giving me this opportunity https://pgap.fireside.fm/steadystate

07.01.2022 Steady State Economy for Cats Hi, my name is Martin Tye, Director, Australian Regional Communities Chapter of CASSE (the Center for the Advancement of the Steady State Economy). My cat is staring at me, I think she wants food, so while I have her attention I thought I’d pen a brief informal introduction to the Steady State Economy (and the need for it) in her honour....Continue reading

06.01.2022 We are told not to dream of a better world, apparently that might be bad for the economy

06.01.2022 OK folks, I got up in the middle of the night to do this interview, ... the least you can do is have a listen. Always keen to see your comments ... https://www.buzzsprout.com/1244474/5601700

06.01.2022 Economic growth serves the rich, while the poor pay the costs. This isn’t surprising, but it's further highlighted by an analysis of the distribution of wealth ...in the USA since 1989. The rich have gotten way richer while the poor have gotten relatively poorer. Brian Snyder reflects on how this inequality exacerbates environmental crises, and what we can do to rectify it with public policy.

05.01.2022 Posted by a New Zealander on Twitter today: "Prior to human arrival, 9% (2.5 million hectares) of #Aotearoa #NewZealand was covered in #wetlands. They're a carbon sink, they filter freshwater and are biodiversity hotspots. We've destroyed 90% (2.25 million hectares) of our wetlands and counting. This needs to be reversed!" Not sure what he's complaining about- this process has fed GDP & assisted "Economic Growth"... All good isn't it?

03.01.2022 While we keep giving the green light to "economic growth" we cannot blame anyone but ourselves for this: We want "growth", but don't want to acknowledge the consequences!

03.01.2022 Human impact can explain ninety-six percent of all mammal species extinctions of the last hundred thousand years, according to a new study published in the scientific journal Science Advances. https://phys.org//2020-09-humans-climate-driven-rapidly-ma

02.01.2022 Common sense (& science) tell you the planet has limits and we have exceeded them. Corporations (& politicians) tell you "We must grow!" Which will you believe?... @SteadyStateEcon https://steadystate.org/ See more

01.01.2022 Does anyone else feel an emptiness in the pit of their stomach at what we have lost (destroyed) in our endless quest to consume every ecological niche on the planet?

01.01.2022 Just curious: "Steady State" describes an economy committed to operating within ecological limits, but is the term a bit dull? ... does this adequately describe the vitality & quality of life opportunities it promotes ?... Is there a better term? Suggestions please.
