11.01.2022 Today Mike and I moved the old Jack Ellis cart from our farm Martins Hill Organic Wines to our neighbours Skimstone Wines, Rebecca Sutton and Jean-Francois Esnault will be the care takers of this fine piece of Apple Tree Flat history for the foreseeable future. Jack made it in the 1930’s from components from the 1800’s it was a great depression farm cart. It is sitting along side ruins of the Maurice Condon Jnr home built 1915 from material acquired from Skimstone’s land, mu...d, wattle, river pebbles and sand. The house and cart are a reminder of those who farmed Apple Tree Flat prior to us.. the old names are embedded in our local history books. Mike has farmed for 40 years both at Martins Hill Organic Wines and Broombee Orchard. Now it is time for Rebecca and Jean-Francois, Deb and Michael, Pete Logan, Simon and Will Gilbert and Michael and Kim Nelson to nurture this land and river for the next generation.
