21.01.2022 Hazard Reduction Burn | We have joined Cooranbong Rural Fire Brigade and Mandalong Rural Fire Brigade this morning for a small hazard reduction burn in difficult terrain near Taylors Rd, Cooranbong. Smoke will be visible in the area for some time.

16.01.2022 Yesterday our brigade farewelled one of our long standing members. Jim is leaving the valley to be with his family, and he will be sorely missed by all. He completed over 18 years of active service and, as secretary and IT Officer, was instrumental in setting up and maintaining specialised brigade management software used by several other brigades in the district. Jim’s tireless dedication is a hallmark of his commitment to volunteering which earned him life membership of the brigade. On behalf of the brigade and the Martinsville community, we thank Jim for his service. Jim retired as Deputy Captain.

16.01.2022 INCIDENT CALL | Cooranbong On our way home from the Hazard Reduction Burn, we were called to assist Fire+Rescue NSW Station 383 Morisset and NSW Ambulance to retrieve a person who had fallen into Dora Creek and had to be lifted up a steep slope. There was some disruption to traffic around the Dora Creek bridge, but this has been resolved. Thanks to Cooranbong Rural Fire Brigade for your assistance.

16.01.2022 We have had about 25mm of rain since 9am this morning. With the ground already soaked and plenty more rain on the way, this system expected to last another 3 days could be very dangerous. Please prepare for flooded roads, trees down and loss of power. History tells us that all these will most likely happen in Martinsville.

12.01.2022 Please take care and prepare your properties. Prepare to loose power. Prepare to be cut off by flood water. Prepare to stay at home for Saturday, and most likely Sunday. Prepare batteries, torches, phones, gas bottles (filled) and fuel for generators/pumps.... Planning is key. Stay Safe, Think Wisely.

10.01.2022 Today our members got together to remember last year's tragic fire season that affected so many. We were honoured to receive the NSW Premier's Bushfire Citation for the part our volunteers played in helping protect life and property. We thank the many volunteers and professional organisations that we joined along the way, sometimes for days, in trying to make a difference in often very difficult circumstances. We also remember and honour our fellow volunteers from agencies across the country who, in the line of duty, did not return to their families. This award is dedicated to them...

10.01.2022 What a difference! Today, a lot of locals are wearing a jumper or taking an umbrella with them just in case because of the overcast cool and sometimes wet weather. This is a good thing. But please do not become complacent. Read this post below. It can happen again. Why not use this "quiet" time to prepare your properties? After all, the holiday season will be upon us very soon and you may not get time then. Visit myfireplan.com.au for more information on how you can prepare for fire.

06.01.2022 Firecall to the Watagans tonight. The call was in Forestry Corporation tenure in an old plantation harvested area of windrows. It was not ignited by Forestry, therefore is suspicious. Fire was well contained and did not require intervention. Crews from Forestry Corp will attend and patrol Sunday. Thank you to Cooranbong Rural Fire Brigade for joining us on this late night excursion.

06.01.2022 Our new website has just launched with lots of information and useful links on volunteering, fire permits, RFS & Lake Macquarie burn policies and photos. It also includes a contact form for residents to ask questions on all RFS related matters. You can find it here: https://www.martinsvillerfb.org.au The bush fire season came to an end at the end of last month, but although fire permits are currently not required, please remember that notifications of an intended burn are still required to both your immediate neighbours as well as the RFS via the RFS web page (https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//fire-permits/burn-notifications). Your brigade is always happy to assist residents with any questions relating to fire safety and permits, as well as property inspections.

02.01.2022 Sad news out of yesterday's incident.
