07.01.2022 BETTER IN BLAK - National Reconciliation Week 27 May - 3 June 2020 "In this together". Here at Sobah we wish for a future where Australia's true history is unde...rstood and accepted by all and a future where our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will be allowed to heal without the constant reminder of atrocities of the past through ongoing discriminatory policies and interventions. Reconciliation should be a process by which non-Indigenous Australians, organisations and governments acknowledge the breadth of knowledge held by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with regards to living on and with this great land commonly called Australia. It is a reminder that reconciliation requires a mutually beneficial agreement, with the onus of that benefit being guided by notions of equity, directed towards those who unfortunately over our contact history have been impacted most negatively, our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through the Sobah Initiative we hope to assist positively in our own little way to the healing journey of our peoples and to the learning journey of Australia. Today we were black in solidarity for our mobs across the country.
