We are a High Performance Dressage training centre located on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria (Temporarely Somerville, long term Merricks North). ... Our horses are provided with the highest level of care. We are looking for a person who is: Physically fit, reliable, has a strong work ethic, is not scared of horses, able to follow directions, capable of getting the job done, understands that working with horses is hard work but loves it anyway; Competent and confident in handling large competition horses, young horses including colts, mares and foals, and stallions; Interested in learning the health management of our high level athletes and breeding stock, including basic first aid, administration of medications as required, ice booting ridden horses, etc, etc; The role: The job involves all aspects of the day to day care of the horses, both the breeding and riding horses, so feeding, turning horses out, cleaning stables, tacking and untacking the riding horses, assisting vets, farriers, etc. We have a fantastic team here at Smink Dressage Group/Aberdeen Farm and are looking for an additional person with good communication skills, attention to detail, a happy character and a genuine love of horses Hours are a permanent part-time guaranteed 8 hour/2 days week (with the possibility for more hours/days as required) We work with a monthly rotating roster, and our wages and work conditions comply with workplace laws. 07.01.2022 JOIN THE SMINK DRESSAGE GROUP TEAM!! SDG is looking for a new team member and has 1 permanent part-time position available in Somerville Start date: 16/5/21... - We are looking for a Top groom. The groom will know each horse inside out and build up a relationship with them. Being able to recognise when the horses are feeling at their best or when something is not quite right and needs attention. You will work alongside Grand Prix dressage rider Marvin Smink Equestrian and will look after our performance horses at home and get the opportunity to come along to national/international shows and training. Some of the duties include; daily care of the horses. Tacking up/down, aftercare, cleaning stables in the morning, feeding and bringing the horses out to the paddock and feeding in the pm and bringing the horses back into the stable. We are hoping to build long term relationships and offer an exciting role in an ambitious and stimulating environment. Hours of work can include but will be shared over 3 team members. Monday to Friday 7am-12pm. Five pm feedruns Am and Pm feedruns on the weekend This role requires you to have passion for the horse and dressage sport and anything that’s involved, stablehand experience, working in a team environment and fabulous communication skills.
