25.01.2022 Off to the sunny north-west coast today to finalize photos for the family history book - almost ready to publish. My new book 'Who's tree will it be?' now delivered to - Reserve Cafe in Punchbowl road (who make the most delicious eggs benedict); Tasmanian Artisans shop in George st; the library (they will order copies for their shelves soon); Seppenfelts in Deloraine. And I will take some to Under the Oak in Ulverstone today. Petrarchs bookshop in Brisbane St will hold a book signing for my new book in the morning of Thursday 3rd December. They are not doing book launches as such because of the virus. Deloraine market comes up again on Saturday 7th November. Christmas is on its way folks - what about a book for those family members/friends who are hard to buy for, for the cost of coffee and cake - the gift that keeps on giving!

24.01.2022 I'll be at the Mole Creek Market again this coming Saturday. If you happen to be about, come over to say hello! 9.00am - 1.30 pm ish.

24.01.2022 It looks like we as a nation and Tassie in particular are beginning to see an end to the lock down. Still being very cautious though, to avoid another outbreak of this dreaded virus. I'm hoping our writers group meetings will begin again within the next couple of months if not sooner. I had a lovely birthday on the 18th and thanks to all who wished me well and for family who spoilt me. Age may be just a number but it makes itself known at times. I do try to be graceful with ...the process (I said graceful not boring!) but it's a bit hard at times. I do like to think of myself as 'wise woman', if only I could tie someone down occasionally to listen to my words of wisdom. Not sure why their eyes glaze over. anyway, to add to the pleasure, my niece gave birth to a lovely baby girl - Tessa on the 19th. Long awaited and will be much loved. Having my grandaughter over for a while tomorrow. Will hit the shops then a good game of scrabble. I'm also looking forward to my last book being published. By the year's end I hope. It's called 'Who's tree will it be?' another Inspector Augustine' mystery. Also am well and truly ready to do some more jigsaws. See more

23.01.2022 New photo! Found this amazing scroll in my drawers. Forgot I had it. Revamping the lounge, so will get it framed and hung. I bought it in Vic, in Spain at the most amazing art museum we have ever been to. Medieval through to Renaissance paintings, triptychs, and artifacts. So good we went twice.

20.01.2022 Off to beautiful Deloraine to their monthly Market on Saturday - 9.00 thru to 1.00. Lots of lovely fresh veges to buy! If you are there, seek me out to say hullo - I'm in the main shed. Having another book printed at the moment called What Price Freedom? Had a bad experience having it published last year with an American company who unfortunately scammed me, so have to republish. Happens to the best of us I guess and not just with publishing. My lovely ladies at InHouse Publishing Queensland are doing a spiffy job for me now, so you can look to buy it before Christmas - only about 6 weeks ago now!!! A book gives so much pleasure and can be shared.

20.01.2022 Tomorrow I will be at the Franklin House Fair. The Society of Women Writers Tas are having an information stall there. I will be helping to man the stall, but also to promote and sell my books. So, if you want a lovely day under beautiful old trees and surrounded by a gorgeous garden, come along. There are usually sausages, hamburgers etc, lots of stalls, cups of tea etc. Lots of local crafts too.

19.01.2022 I'm doing the final final check of my latest book Who's Tree will it Be? as it is all ready to print. A reminder that I will be at the Deloraine market this Saturday. 16.01.2022 Mole Creek was busy, and once again I met some lovely people. At present I am enjoying time in Victoria with Husband Andrew's son and daughter in law on their lovely acre property in Belgrave. Shame about the rain, but time to relax and read a good book. This Monday is our next Women Writer's meeting, come along if you enjoy a good laugh and some encouragement to write. We have our annual stall at the Franklin House fete soon, dates to be announced. It's always a lovely day t...here with some interesting activities. The family history book is slowly coming together. So much information to be added, it will be impossible to get it all in. Fascinating though. I gave a talk on my books and writing at a recent Rotary meeting. Always available for other groups. Also, anyone wanting to buy my books for self, friends, family or other please let me know and I can arrange it. See more

12.01.2022 Who's tree will it be? chapter 1 Glenys strode quickly through the night, confident that she wouldn't stumble. After all she had walked this path a thousand times during her life. The only light to help her tonight though was the moon, which was a mere slither of white. She slapped the side of the torch she was carrying yet again in the vain hope of resurrecting the battery. It had died just after she left the seaside town of Dennison's community hall, where she'd enjoyed he...r fortnightly meeting with fellow card players. She'd had the pleasure of beating Mrs Thurley at cribbage tonight - not a mean feat, as Thelma saw herself as the local champion. 'What's that?' she now thought, as beyond her through the gloom, a strange noise emanated... "Ah!' She stumbled over something solid yet squishy... "Oh my God!' she gasped as the light allowed her to see her hands. Blood was beginning to dry on her wrists.... chapter 2 I am ready Sergeant.' Jean said, returning a moment later. He held a raincoat, a red beret covering his silky hair. God, you're ready to help then Inspector?' Noel jumped up. He was thrilled, so sure a moment ago that he'd been turned down. "Mais oui. Now you are to take me to zee crime.' Jean marched to the door......... extracts from the murder mystery, 'Who's tree will it be?' where you meet up with the Swiss Inspector Jean Augustine again. A friend of mine is halfway through reading the book and still can't 'guess' who did it!! I'm thrilled!!!!

12.01.2022 Another puzzle completed. Haven't done one for months. I'm sure this is the one Dianne and Grant gave me?! Now there is no excuse to put off writing. Must get into it. had a lovely meal with the Writers group at Steve's Grill yesterday. Nice to catch up after 3 months of isolating. Hopefully will be back to the library for regular meetings soon. Reading a good book at present - Jodi Picoult. Always a good subject to ponder over.

12.01.2022 Just came back from a lovely few days with my sister in Leith ( near Ulverstone). Visited a few shops that now hold my books. I'll list them when I have organised my own list! On Saturday 1st Feb I will be at the Deloraine market, and on Sunday 2nd Feb, I will be at the Exeter market with my books. I do enjoy having stalls at local markets. I meet some lovely people and even manage to sell some! Find me (inside) if you are there and say Hi.

10.01.2022 My bedraggled garden deer went to friends for a facelift. i love it - thankyou Charles. it's now my backdrop for a while. The weekend was busy and most enjoyable. Saturday to Deloraine Market which was bustling and full of all kind of stalls. Met some lovely people - both stall holders as well as visitors. 08.01.2022 OMG. so long since I wrote anything - well I have but it's all been family history stuff. Very proud of what I have achieved, about 2/3rds of the way to finishing. Since our world wide lock down, I have been tippy typing away, surrounded by papers, letters, photos and newspaper cuttings. There is so much we have collected over at least a century. But it's been from pre computer and digital camera days. Who saves letters and printed photos now? Will there be a dirthe of intere...sting mementos for the future generations to miss? We maybe all need a cupboard where we can stash those titbits of family involvements in! I have been keeping busy with other things too - boring stuff like tidying cupboards, cleaning out 2 storage rooms and gardening - I like the gardening bit! Family and friends can still be visited (only 2 at a time), or phoned or emailed. Grocery shopping - the run in run out way - has probably saved us money! I do think of the war years, where people lived this way for years on end - along with the fear of death rather than running out of toilet rolls. We have nothing to complain about - so why do we? Human nature, or selfishness? Anyway, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and there is another book in me waiting for the family history to be finished. Take care everyone and count your blessings. PS if you have run out of good reading material, some of my books are available on line. Just google in Mary Helen Farr and/or go to Amazon. See more

07.01.2022 Off to Mole Creek market again this Saturday, with my books and some preloved items to pass on at bargain prices. come out for a drive the scenery is spectacular! Had the most wonderful time at Lake Barrington last weekend, with the dragon boat crew. Made some healthy times and won a couple. Good company food and exercise - what more could a gal want??

06.01.2022 All set up and raring to go at the Deloraine Market this morning. Had a great day, met some lovely people and sold a lot of books. Stunning weather and beautiful scenery. Will be back there in October. Just a reminder about where I sell my books - Seppenfelts, Deloraine; Tasmanian Artisan's shop and Petrarchs book shop in Launceston; Reserve Cafe 57 Punchbowl; The Gift Shop, Wynyard; Under the Oak gift shop, Ulverstone. Monday we have our next Society of Women Writers meeting (check our website and facebook page) at the Launceston Library from 9.30 - 12.00. All women writers invited (even if you just doodle!)

04.01.2022 In the process of having my next book published. The second Inspector Augustine book entitled "Who's Tree Will it Be" set on the east coast of Tassie. A murder mystery. Began my next book - at the moment simply called 'Alice' based on stories discovered whilst doing the family history. Meanwhile, roll on spring I say, as well as the markets opening up again! I,m a bit over being cold. Snow on the high hills as of yesterday when I visited to Deloraine for a small group meeting with some SWWT writers.

04.01.2022 ran to the Rowing club this morning - yeah - first dragon boat paddle in 3 months. Slunk home half an hour later - too foggy to go out! Ah well, back to the bike rides for a bit longer. Please let it be sunny next Saturday! My next book to be printed is almost ready to go. Thanks Kelly for your wonderful editing and Chris for your observations. It's another Inspector Augustine 'who dun it'. Started my next one!! At this stage simply called Alice. Based on a true story. Stay the distance everyone. it's so easy to forget - take a step back, and keep our beautiful tassie state covid free.

Next one is on the 7th September at the Launceston Library, 9.30am - 12.00 noon. Anyone wanting to come along and talk writing, and participate in our written exercises, is very welcome.
