22.01.2022 Do you struggle to get out of a chair? Do you know someone that does?? Here are some handy hints to help Make sure your feet are back near the front of the chair,... If it is a deep chair then wiggle forward on the chair. Put your hands on the arms of the chair (not on your wheelie walker) Then here is the most important step. Lean forward so that your nose is passed your knees before you push up with your arms to stand up. Even if the Carers are helping you to stand you need to still go through these steps. When sitting down lean forwards as you bend your knees to sit. This will save you plopping into the chair. Remember if the Carers have asked you to use your bell to call for them before you get up please do. This could save a fall (and possible injury) If you are getting out of a car you do very much the same thing but you haven’t arms to push down on there for you will need to reach to hold the car door to help you to get up. Leaning forward a long way before you try to get up is the secret to a safe sit to stand.

20.01.2022 Last month our residents went on a few bus trips lead by our great Diversional Therapists. Last months favourite trips were a charted scenic bus trip down to Kingston Beach and Howden and then a smaller group bus trip that went for a look around the Botanical Gardens on a beatiful Sunny day. These bus trips allow all of our residents to get out and about if they wish.

20.01.2022 Our residents had a great BBQ yesterday at Tolosa St Park, it may have been cold but they rugged up and had a great lunch together. Here is a photo our Diversional Therapist Janine took of the lunch time view.

19.01.2022 Our new wing, the extension of our current Lower Bown wing opened last year... We are loving this new space! We are now looking forward to our new renovated rooms in our Bethune wing to open shortly! What are the tracks on the ceiling you may ask? These are our amazing ceiling hoists to help our residents and staff mobilise easily and safely around the room if mobility is an issue. If you or someone you know are interested in coming and having a look at some of our great rooms phone 62281037. We will happily show you around. Have a great day!
