22.01.2022 A "BIG THANK YOU" to everyone who attended the 2018 Immigration Shipping Celebration weekend. A special thanks to all the volunteers, entertainers and descendants from New Zealand, NSW, Canberra and mostly to all Queenslanders for your support, descendants of all ages from 11 to 102 years old). Also, special thanks to Judy Grimes who did a fantastic job as the MC and also to Pat O’Brien, who was the coach driver for our excursion to Hervey Bay via River Heads and return. He... filled in with a lot of the local history of the old houses in Maryborough. Judy and Kay did a great job by relating the history of the areas we visited on the coach tour. Also the Hervey Bay Boat Club at Urangan for the great attention shown to all on the coach trip. The descendants of the passengers from the ships we were celebrating were a wonderful lot who really enjoyed and appreciated all that had been arranged for them. It was also a joy to discover that two people met for the first time in their lives at the reunion after discovering that they were brother and sister about 12 months ago. We also hope that everyone who purchased our books enjoy the contents.Books for these voyages and previous ones may still be bought from the Institute. It was a big success and hopefully will continue on for the next 50 years!!!
