24.01.2022 Prosthetic limbs for chickens A 12 year-old girl is creating an online database of 3D-printable chicken feet and beaks to help her feathered friends missing... body parts. Summer Farrelly from Bundaberg loves chickens. A few years ago she developed a chicken therapy program, when she discovered hanging out in the chook shed helped with her Asperger's diagnosis and now she wants to give back. The only problem is Summer requires deceased fowl so the feet and beaks of the different breed can be scanned and included. Then any chicken lover in the world can log on and download a 3D-printable model for their chook. If you can help, head over the Chickens to Love - Therapeutic Chickens.

18.01.2022 The Maryborough Hervey Bay Poultry Club wishes to advise that our Club Show scheduled for 19 April 2020 will not be going ahead, given the current COVID19 Pandemic. This decision was not made lightly, however, given the seriousness of the situation, the show can not go ahead. Our number one priority is the health and safety of our members, exhibitors and judges and isn’t something we are willing to compromise. At this stage we are continuing our planning towards our Annual Show in June until a final decision can be made closer to the date. We thank you all for your continued support and look forward to seeing you all at our next event.

14.01.2022 Feeling festive?

13.01.2022 One of the matters raised at the AGM, was a request for more regular meetings throughout the show season. So in 2020, from February through to July, the Maryborough Hervey Bay Poultry Club will be holding monthly meetings on the last Saturday of each month. These meetings will be held at club members homes and change from month to month. This will give members a chance to get together, discuss current issues affecting the Poultry community and be better informed about our approaching shows. The first of these meetings will be held on Saturday 29 February 2020 at 10am. (Members will be advised of the location.)

13.01.2022 Our April Show Schedule is now available through the Menu tab on our page. Exhibitors on our mailing list have had their copies emailed/posted to them. If you would like a copy sent directly to you, please get in touch.

13.01.2022 The Maryborough Hervey Bay Poultry Club would like to wish all its members and exhibitors a safe and happy Easter

13.01.2022 With all the excitement of our first club show looming, it is also worth mentioning that the Fraser Coast Agriculture Show is just around the corner. This is a two day even with judging taking place on Thursday 23rd May. All poultry is required to stay in the pavilion for display until Friday night. Birds are well cared for, fed and watered by our Stewards. Ag Shows are a lot of fun and a little more relaxed than a club show. We focus hard on putting on a great display for ...the general public to see a good variety of fowls. This is also a really good opportunity for anyone that is new to exhibition poultry to have a go. There is a special pet section for kids where birds do not necessarily have to be pure bred show quality, and are judged by their quiet pet quality instead. ** Please note, all health and bio security procedures are taken as seriously as they are at any club event ** A copy of the schedule can be found here: https://www.frasercoastshow.com.au//uploads/2019/03/8.-Pou

12.01.2022 Show is in full swing.

12.01.2022 We are getting a lot of calls and messages at the moment from people looking for Chooks and Ducks to add to their backyard flock of egg layers. While this is great to see and we absolutely encourage this, it’s a tricky time of year as hens are going through their Autumn moult, meaning they stop egg production for a while, and young pullets bred in spring aren’t quite ready to start yet. It may be a little while before we see any eggs, but with shows being cancelled, many bree...ders of heritage poultry may have excess stock available. If any of our exhibitors have anything for sale, please get in touch so that I can pass the information on to those who enquire. Even for those looking for standard brown backyard layers, the produce places have been swamped by orders and there is quite a waiting list. Please also be aware that point of lay pullets can still be weeks away from actually laying an egg. See more

09.01.2022 Thank you to all those members who made the effort to attend our AGM today. Many great idea were thrown around and the 2019 show season is already showing a lot of promise. Next year we are excited to have not one, not two, but THREE features. Our April Show will host a Bantam Modern Game Feature as well as Mallard Waterfowl. At our annual show in June we will host a Natural Softfeather Bantam Feature.

08.01.2022 It’s clean up time! Members, this Sunday 05 May at 1pm we will be cleaning up the Poultry Pavilion and getting it ready for the Ag Show. Bring your shovels and buckets. See you all there!

08.01.2022 The final numbers are in. Our little club will be hosting a total of 640 entries on Sunday. This is not quite as many as the previous two years, but much higher than we expected, considering the trouble everyone is having with moulting and immature birds. The break down is as follows: Bantam Hardfeather - 241 ... Large Hardfeather - 63 Bantam Softfeather - 133 Large Softfeather- 63 Waterfowl - 126 Juniors - 14 See more

04.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE Thank you for your patience as the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) staff work through the logistics and complexity of cancelling the 20...20 National Poultry Show. It is with great disappointment that we confirm the cancellation of the Show and advise that the next National Poultry Show will be set for 2024. We appreciate that the cancellation of the Show is a huge disappointment for the Poultry community, particularly officials and exhibitors who have spent many months preparing for the largest Poultry Show in the Southern Hemisphere, however, due to current circumstances, it is no longer a viable option to postpone the competition. Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time. If you have any further questions regarding refunds, competition logistics or future National Poultry Shows, please email [email protected] or call 9704 1111 prior to Thursday 16 April 2020.

03.01.2022 Hi all, I am looking for a couple of small breed day old chicks. My hen discarded half a dozen eggs that were in the process of hatching to look after her 5 old...er chicks. 4 that were pipped have hatched. 3 of these are large light sussex and one is a black Australorpe. the sussex are picking on the Australorpe to the point they have damaged it slightly and I have to keep it seperated. I don't want it to be lonely and I have no other eggs due to hatch. can you point me to somewhere that might help that is local to Maryborough/Bauple? I am happy to pay a reasonable price. See more
