22.01.2022 NO FOOLING - WORLD SERIES SPRINTCARS RETURNS! Speedway Australia is pleased to release a jam-packed 2021/22 season calendar for the long-awaited return of World... Series Sprintcars. With 13 rounds covering 5 states, competitors and fans Australia-wide will be treated to world-class Sprintcar racing as COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease across the country. Essentially carrying over from the cancelled 2020/21 season schedule, the calendar has once again been designed to coincide with February’s Australian Sprintcar Title at Perth Motorplex. This provides teams with a great opportunity to compete in both their national championship and the premier Sprintcar series in the country back-to-back. For venues such as Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway, the mere mention of World Series Sprintcars return after a 12-month hiatus has been met with huge excitement within the community, with President Cary Jennings stating we’ve already pre-sold all the corporate boxes in anticipation of next seasons event. We’re now looking to expand our facilities to accommodate the high demand! World Series foray to new venues paid dividends in 2019/20, and this year Whyalla (SA) and Geraldton (WA) will finally get their moment in the sun, having had their original events postponed due to COVID-19 and border restrictions cancelling last seasons championship. Geraldton City Speedway, undeterred by the delay undertook a $130,000 upgrade to their facility, with a brand-new catch fence and huge increase in the track’s banking to ensure their inaugural World Series event is one of the highlights of the season calendar, with President Peter Dowie stating this is easily the biggest thing to ever happen to our track! Whyalla Speedway Club Inc. in South Australia will feature as the teams begin their trek to the West, securing a coveted Saturday night round on January 29. Club spokesperson Michael Brown was rapt to have WSS coming to town. It’s the pinnacle of Australian speedway, and we’re excited to be involved and have a crack. Maryborough Speedway and Lismore Speedway will finally get their chance to build upon their successful 2019/20 events, with mid-week rounds on January 11 and 13 respectively. The cancellation of the 2020/21 season has unfortunately resulted in a waiting list of tracks wanting to feature on the calendar, with unprecedented interest from venues across Australia to host the nation’s foremost Sprintcar series. Negotiations with the successful candidate to operate the new Western Sydney International Speedway are also a possibility to be explored in due course. The full draft 2021/22 calendar is below, and subject to change. Individuals and Teams seeking to submit expressions of interest to compete may do so by contacting [email protected]. 2021/22 World Series Sprintcars Calendar Speedweek Round 1 Murray Bridge SA Dec 26/27 Round 2 Mt Gambier SA Dec 28 Round 3 Avalon VIC Dec 30 Round 4 Warrnambool VIC Jan 1 Sunshine Swing Round 5 Brisbane QLD Jan 5 Round 6 Brisbane QLD Jan 7/8 Round 7 Maryborough QLD Jan 11 Round 8 Lismore NSW Jan 13 (Break for Classic week) Round 9 Whyalla SA Jan 29 Western Swing Round 10 Bunbury WA Feb 5 Round 11 Geraldton WA Feb 16 Round 12 Perth WA Feb 18 Round 13 Grand Final WA Feb 19

19.01.2022 After reading some recent comments - can't help but think how drivers would feel if tracks publicly criticised how individual drivers drove on any given night. Clubs are made up of volunteers who do their best - the weather plays a big part in track preparation - track prep people don't give up they do their best so that drivers have somewhere to race again next time. The Junior drivers had no problem with the track and drove to a very high standard Perhaps some of the senior drivers who are complaining could take note how to drive to the track conditions.

Just nine cars greeted the chequered flag as hot and windy conditions made track preparation extremely challenging. Clinton Lawrence unfortunately ended his race upside on the opening lap with Ryan Schultz, Russell Booth and Jim Cowley all going no further. Defending champion Tim Weir looked set to claim his fourth State Title in a row in the class before his race ended with a flat tyre on lap twenty two. For Justin Weir it was his second win in the event after claiming his first State Title in 2017 at his home track in Gympie. Official Result SSA National 4’s QLD State Title A Main, 40 Laps: 1. 09.01.2022 SEAN BLACK SIMPLY TOO GOOD AT MARYBOROUGH Press Release by the Super Sedan Association. Round three of the McCosker Super Sedan Series supported by Hervey Bay ...Tilt Tray Hire was held at the Fraser Shores Maryborough Speedway on Saturday night (21st November). Twenty-Nine year old Sean Black (Sweet 26) drove a patient and smooth race to win by 1.279 seconds from Sam Roza (Sweet 77) and Matty Pascoe (Sweet 31). Twenty one cars would hot lap however unfortunately Rodney Craft (Dominator 48) would take no further part in the event. Nine qualifying heats were held with nine different winners. On a track that was very challenging for all the drivers the winners of all nine heats came from the front row. Heat winners were Darren Kane (Dominator Aus 1),Wayne Randall (Rocket 6), Carter Armstrong (OTR 35), David Musch (Sweet 12), Sean Black (Sweet 26), Trent Wilson (Sweet 44), Justin Smithwick (Sweet 63), Craig Hammond (Rocket 2), and Sam Roza (Sweet 77). The highest point scorer would be twenty-two year old Carter Armstrong (104), in only his third race meeting in Super Sedan, driving an OTR chassis with sponsorship from Carline Mufflers Caloundra, Harrisons Mechanical Services, M & N Car Carriers, and F45 Training Strathpine. Following Armstrong would be Wayne Randall (100), Sean Black (100), Sam Roza (100), Darren Kane (96), Gavin Northfield (96), David Musch (96), Craig Hammond (92), Justin Smithwick (92), Bob McCosker (92), Trent Wislon (90), Nicholas O’Keeffe (88), Mick Nicola (88), Matt Pascoe (84), Hayden Brims (80), Josh McLaren (76), Zac Pascoe (72), Brendon Kelly (62). Wayne Randall got the best start and would lead lap one from Roza and Armstrong. The caution came out on lap 3 for Smithwick (broken lift arm and pinion) and then again on lap 4 for the pole sitter Armstrong whose nose panel was folded under hindering his steering. Immediately on the restart Black moved into second and the race at the front settled into a rhythm with the KRT Rocket of Randall in the lead. Randall said this morning the car was quite easy to drive considering it was not what you would call a 4 bar type of track. However as the pair approached heavy lap traffic it was Black who was searching for an alternate line and on lap 20 made the pass around the outside through turns 1 and 2. The following circuit would see Randall get a little high around the lap cars and spin, unfortunately rookie Hayden Brims (Rocket 111) was not able to avoid and made heavy contact. Both cars would be too badly damaged to continue. By this time the biggest mover in the field was Matty Pascoe (Rockhampton Mazda 31) who was making very good progress and had moved into seventh from fourteenth. Matty explained I ran the top while the other cars were running on the smoother bottom, I could drive through the holes and as the bottom went real slick, which was slowing them down, my line was getting better. On the restart the top three were Black, Roza and Kane. Black was unchallenged over the last 10 laps, Roza was a comfortable second and Pascoe found his way around Nicola (6th), Wilson (5th) and Kane (4th) to claim a hard fought third. Seventh was Bob McCosker, with eight place going to Craig Hammond for his best result in the series as well as 1st in the QLD Super Sedan Development Series. The top ten was rounded out by Josh McLaren and Zac Pascoe with Gavin Northfield and Brendon Kelly being the only other finishers. Sean reflected on his win this morning saying ït was a solid night from the get go on a very demanding race track that wasn’t forgiving. Had to be ten tenths every lap and just happy to get the job done for the team. The winners Sweet is sponsored by Handford Plumbing Services, Narellan Pools, Linmac Automotive, Burson's Autoparts, Toowoomba Steering and Suspension, L Cleaning Service, DTS, Ash Media, Page Race Engines, Terry Austin Smash Repairs, DePool Shop, Scott's FRP, GW Racing. Second place Sam Roza said the car was superb on a difficult track. His Sweet 77 is sponsored by Ford Wreckers Redcliffe, Oz Race Wraps, Tasman Racewear, Autosmart North Brisbane, Beedhams Brake and Exhaust, 44 Photography, Parkers Body Shop, Redcliffe Towing, Australian Auto Hoses. 02.01.2022 McCOSKER SUPER SEDAN SERIES CONTINUES AT MARYBOROUGH Press Release Courtesy of the Super Sedan Association, photo by FTBC Photography Another fantastic field o...f 24 cars have assembled for the Hervey Bay Tilt Tray Hire supported round of the McCosker Super Sedan Series which will be contested this Saturday night at the Fraser Shores Maryborough Speedway. Leading the nominations this week are the top three in the Series, three time Aussie Champ Mick Nicola (KO Vic 3), Sam Roza (Sweet 77) and Sean Black (Sweet 26). Current Aussie 1 Darren Kane (Dominator) sitting in fourth place after a great drive from ninth to finish on the podium at Archerfield is also nominated. In the series only visit to the venue last season Matty Pascoe and Wayne Randall occupied the top steps on the podium. Both suffered mechanical issues and accumulated very few points at Archerfield last weekend, they will be keen to get their championship chase back on track. Matty is still waiting for engine components and will again be in Brendan Doyle owned car (Sweet 31 Rockhampton Mazda) while Wayne will be back in the Keith Rubach owned car (Rocket 6 KRT Trenching). Drivers will contest 3 rounds of heats each, the top 8 will then go against the clock in a shootout to determine their starting positions.
