23.01.2022 The benefits of Sprouted Mung Bean Dhal or Kitchari Sprouted Mung Bean dhal or kitchari is also one of my favourite things, especially in winter. In Ayurveda, Mung Bean Soup has a magical and powerful medicinal effect helping to balance all 3 doshas. Its spices are part of the medicinal quality of this delicious and nourishing soup. When combined with certain sharp and penetrating herbs, the blocks created by Ama (toxic mucus that lodges in the body over time due to poor di...et, lack of exercise and wrong lifestyle) are broken. In the same way that a gun is able to shoot through objects and break them, some herbs and spices have this effect and Mung Bean Soup contains many of these spices. It is also beneficial to fast on Mung Bean Soup. One can start, depending on the amount of Ama in the body, with 3-5 days of fasting only on Mung Bean Soup. Then add cooked vegetables like pumpkins and squashes, and leafy greens for two days. Finally, add rice for the next two days. And then return to your normal diet. You can also give your digestion a rest at any time with a mung soup day once a week or 3-5 days during season transitions. You’ll find the recipe and directions for sprouting on the Resources page of the 2WiseWomen website. xEnjoy.

22.01.2022 Immunity Tip - Chyawanprash I love my morning dandelion chai and the last couple of mornings I have also been adding a teaspoon of Chyawanprash, otherwise known as Yogi Jam. it’s a mouthful I know but a fitting name given all the goodness it contains. It is traditionally taken after meals with milk so I thought why not in my chai and I love it! This delicious tonic has been enjoyed for centuries in India, traditionally taken with milk morning and evening. ... The main ingredient, Amla (Indian Gooseberry), is renowned for its tonic and antioxidant properties. It is the highest natural source of Vitamin C and retains the Vitamin C content because it is bound up with the tannins of the fruit. The tonic action of Amla also builds the blood and reproductive fluids as well as nourishing the heart, lungs and kidneys. While there are many Chyawanprash’s available I recommend Bioveda (www.bioveda.com.au - although that’s not the one in this photo). Fresh (not dried) sun-ripened Amla is combined with a blend of 34 herbs and spices and manufactured in the traditional manner without the use of preservatives or artificial flavors. It has the full traditional component of ingredients which are mainly wild-crafted and are only accepted after careful testing. Happily it also comes in glass if you are trying to reduce your plastic. It does however contain ghee and raw honey so won’t suit my vegan friends. x Enjoy

18.01.2022 Sprouting Green Mung Beans Soak beans in 2- 3 times the amount of water 12 -24 hrs /overnight. The next day rinse well and add only 1 cm water & cover.... Rinse each day until sprouted. Darkness & warmth support the sprouting process so I place a cover over the bowl - a plate or tea towel. They will sprout faster in summer and slower in winter. In hot weather it may only take another 12-24 hrs for their little tails to appear and up to 3 days in cold weather. Sitt them in a sunny spot with a covering to help the process along. Keep tails between 3-4 mm for best cooking results. Wash & drain before cooking. I have also been sprouting red lentils lately - same technique and very yummy as a meat alternative in a bolognese sauce or vegetarian lasagna. Let me know if you would like my Veggie Lasagna recipe - it's very yummy. xEnjoy

17.01.2022 I’m a little excited. I just pushed the send button on my chapter for a multi author book I was invited to contribute to. Called Wild Woman Rising, it is about women who have forged their own path and will be published and released on Amazon in Jan 2021. I admit that when I started I could relate to the 'Women Rising' part but not so much the 'Wild'. Having just spent the last month writing my story however, maybe it is a bit Wild. It’s certainly outside the box.... I use stories a lot when I teach and often people have asked if I have a book or when I am going to write one. I do love to write so it has always been a bit of a dream, but I’ve never felt quite brave enough to think I could actually do it. So, for many reasons this invitation and the process of writing my story has been a powerful experience. Reflecting on my life; how different it is now to anything I could ever have imagined in my earlier years; reliving the pivotal moments and what I have learnt on the way, have all bought home what an amazing journey it is. My life has certainly not been a straight line nor always an easy one, and along the way I have learned a lot about navigating life’s shifts and changes more consciously. My chapter shares some of my story, soul wisdom I have gathered and tools I have used. My hope is that it will touch someone’s life, reminding them that there is more to this life than just doing it and that life is not something that happens to us, it happens for us. My soul work now is to guide and support other women as they walk their path, being for them the person I wish had been beside me 20 years ago when my life unravelled. I am so grateful to Tarsh Ashin of Ashwin Publishing for the invitation and all the other incredible women from around the world contributing their journey’s and wisdom, I am in very good company. It is certainly going to be a worthwhile read. I would love to hear your thoughts about my little/ big project and hope you will follow me on this journey of being seen and heard.

15.01.2022 No yoga this week due to my little mishap but very happy to report the foot is healing well, amazingly well. Very minimal swelling, almost no pain and able to walk with a slight limp. Incredible given the bone was damaged. In addition to the Cool Azul I am also taking Symphytum, a homeopathy remedy for bone healing. When my 90 yr old dad broke his wrist I gave him this remedy from day 1 and the doctors couldn't believe how well he healed and the new bone growth.

10.01.2022 These are the closing paragraphs of my Wild Woman Rising chapter... "A few months ago, a long-time client, and friend, spontaneously shared that of all the people she saw navigating the path of life I was one that stood out as doing it ‘well’. I recall choking on my chai and protesting that she really had no idea. How could what feels so damn messy on the inside look like that on the outside. ... She assured me however that she was 100% earnest in her offering. Later, I thought about what it is she sees and think perhaps it’s the continual and deliberate intention of staying true to my path and showing up on the journey. I have learnt a lot over the years about navigating life’s shifts and changes, and every day I try and put them into practice. Using the wisdom and tools I have accumulated to navigate the messiness that life can be. This offering is the essence of what I have experienced and some of the wisdom and tools I have come to know and trust on my journey." At 7.00pm on the 21 April I am holding a Master Class as part of the Wild Woman Rising Summit. I'll be exploring the essence of Joy and how to cultivate it's presence using the wisdom and tools I have accumulated on my own journey of finding joy. Register for the Summit here: https://tarshashwin.com/wwr-summit/ plus find out how to win 1 of 5 offering bundles, each valued at over $650, being gifted by the authors. Looking forward to see you there. xxMary Girishaa

09.01.2022 What is your go to grounding Autumn practice??? As Autumn arrives and the leaves dry out and the temperature drops, the same things are happening in our body our skin feels drier, our lips may start to crack, we feel the cold and the wind is irritating. These drying, cooling, mobile qualities of Autumn lower our immunity so the Ayurveda suggestions to counter the effect are all about warming , grounding and moistening the BodyMind. ... Things like... Oiling the nose and ears with a drop of warm oil Daily self-massage with warm oil Hold a mouthful of warm oil in your mouth for 5-10 minutes then spit it out. Find some time to rest each day Yoga Nidra is a perfect practice. Get back into soups, dhal, casseroles and stir fries - moist, warming foods. Practice 10-15 minutes of alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodana) each day. As the weather cools down and stay out of the wind. Warm autumn colours are ideal. Massage the temples and soles of the feet with warm oil before bed and have a glass of warm spiced milk to help you sleep. Keep things that stimulant your system e.g. caffeine, alcohol, TV and screen time to a minimum, particularly at night. The recommended oil for Autumn is black seed sesame oil because it is qualities are heavy and heating. What's your favourite Autumn practice???

08.01.2022 I am attending my first Young Living Grand Convention this weekend - virtual of course - and just realised that it is almost 5 years to the day that I received my first Young Living oils. They have become an indispensable part of my everyday life, as medicine when I need it, for wellbeing and emotional support, in my cooking and more recently as my cleaning products. This amazing gift of nature has been used for thousands of years to support a healthy response to stress, natural detoxification, increase stamina..., endurance and energy and restore balance and harmony. We may never speak those actual words but without exception there is the intention of finding something that feels lost or missing in their lives. They have often become caught up in the intensity, complexity and clutter of day to day life, they have learnt how to wear a mask and forgotten who is behind it and they make choices that go against their values because they feel physically or emotionally compelled and obligated. It could be in their physical health, their emotions, their mental health, their relationships, the state of their bank balance, or work; or living arrangement. All different but at the heart of them all is an emptiness, a sense of disconnect with not just themselves but that Something that gives meaning to this life. 02.01.2022 I am continually amazed at the incredible power of Young Living oils...the healing power blows me away. Very early yesterday morning I missed my last back step and went over on my left ankle. I have done this one a few times now and knew straight away it was a bad one. I sat with it for a few minutes giving it reiki then went inside for Panaway and Cool Azul. ... Cancelled all my appointments and weekend plans to spend the day with my foot up, repeated application of oils, reiki and occasional cold pack. By late afternoon I knew it was something more than a sprain bc the pain to weight bare was pretty intense. My beautiful daughters arranged a trip to the local ED and an xray showed a chipped bone which accounted for the pain. The single foot photo was taken last night at the hospital 12 hours after it happened. Some swelling but not what you might expect from a sprain bad enough to chip a bone. Left the hospital with a moon boot and crutches bc still very hurty to try and take any weight on the foot. Back home and with some more Cool Azul and Panaway and all night reiki I slept right through without even thinking of needing any pain relief. Photo of 2 feet taken this morning, obviously something going on with the left foot but no where near the bruising or swelling you would expect plus able to walk in the moon boot without the crutches. So impressed. Will always keep the Cool Azul on hand from now on...not that I am planning on missing any more back steps.
