23.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago the Mary Island Fishing Club had to cancel the 2020 Buccaneer Classic due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The club would just like to take a moment to acknowledge and thank our sponsors that had committed for for 2020 and encourage our community to keep on supporting our local businesses that support our volunteer organisations.

23.01.2022 Not long to go now - the INTERCLUB is nearly upon us!!!! We need to win this for Derby!!! Seriously one fantastic weekend of fishing, friendship and of course friendly sledging of Broome! Entry forms are available at Big Barras - dont miss out! You can also renew or sign up as a new member of the MIFC and your membership will roll over and last till the end of 2020!

13.01.2022 Our Derby anglers gave 110% in this years interclub, fishing in extreme heat, with 20 gazillion flies, 10 gazillion mozzies & hard to get bait. while i am very dissapointed to say broome did manage to again win the perpetual trophy derby anglers did not disappoint once again taking out all of the big fish angler prizes!! thanks to everyone involved it was a great weekend with some epic sledging and awesome camaraderie between all.

13.01.2022 just completed the 2021 buccaneer classic and i feel so thankful that Derby has such amazing people that come together to make events like these possible. - a...n amazing achievement for the Mary Island Fishing club- the biggest in the history of the event, 48 teams from all over WA, 150 anglers, great briefing night, safety convoy to archipelago, social night mask-er-ade party on cockatoo island, fishing, beaches, waterfalls, an amazing ANZAC dawn service complete with buggle player and wreath laying while Steve Pigram sang the song and the band played waltzing matilda at the historic anzac monument and a presentation breakfast on Gibbons beach. This is the last races for 2019, with Dags back in the mic, live music between race sets and over dinner and the BEST VALUE BBQ with FREE Mud crab on the side available from 5.30pm, the MIFC is the place you want to be this Saturday afternoon - hope to see you all there!

10.01.2022 The Mary Island Fishing Club would like to take the opportunity to say that set net fishing in the Kimberley is illegal and very destructive to the environment. This practice has been happening recently around some of the river systems around the Derby shire. If you do see any activity that you think may be illegal or unusual, please let fisheries or the police know about it -gathering evidence such as taking photos really helps. It is everyone's responsibility expose these law breakers as the taking of huge amounts of breeding size Barramundi and undersize fish will lead to localized stock depletion and impact on the ecosystem balance. PLEASE help stop illegal netting in the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley.

We already have a large number of entries so will not be considering late entries without a bloody good excuse!!!!! Entries close 15th March - get your paper work in NOW!!!! - payment can be may anytime prior to departure on 23rd April. All entry form and more details available on the MIFC web site.

09.01.2022 Please - if you are planning on doing the 2021 Buccaneer Classic please get your entries in as early as possible!!! Entries close 15th March but the earlier you get your paper work in the easier it is for the committee to organise shirts/trophies etc.... you dont need to pay yet - just need the form!!!! all details available on the MIFC web site.

07.01.2022 Do it for Derby!!! Not only is this seriously a fabulously awesome weekend, Derby needs a win!!! we have lost the last couple and need as many Derby Fisho's to represent our town and bring the Trophy back to Derby where it rightfully belongs!
