25.01.2022 City Cave will finally be able to offer floats again from the 13th June. This is an amazing offer. I know I will certainly be taking it up. Kathy Farthing and her crew are ready to see your smiling faces.

24.01.2022 I am excited that I will be able to offer face to face counselling at City Cave again from the 13th June. I will be available at City Cave Ipswich on Wednesdays and City Cave Stones Corner on Tuesday evenings. Of course I am still offering zoom sessions in the mean time. If you require an appointment outside of these time slots please message me and we will work something out. You can book directly through my website..

24.01.2022 What is executive coaching. How does it help? Why does it help? This article gives a terrific explanation of what it is about, and what to look out for in a coach.

24.01.2022 I have recently partnered with the Australian Institute of Health and Safety as a provider to their members. If you have friends or family that are Safety officers in their workplace , and a member of AIHS, they are entitled to an initial free consultation of 60min. This can be an opportunity to vent, debrief, or explore counselling therapies without having to go through their workplace EAP. Send them to my website www.marymackenzie.com.au and let them know to put AIHS in the bookings comments. https://www.aihs.org.au/counselling-support-aihs-members

22.01.2022 This Way Up have made their online short courses free for the next month. There are a range of courses available including one for teens. Learn valuable skills in self managing anxiety and depression through CBT and other modalities. This is an incredibly helpful tool that everyone can access. If you have found yourself having to spend a lot more time at home, now could be a great time to work on your general mental health.

17.01.2022 How do you tactfully refer your friend, colleague or loved one to a counsellor? It can be tricky. Telling someone "I think you need to see a counsellor" will generally go down like a lead balloon. It will make them feel like they are the problem. Instead, if their difficulties come up in conversation, you can gently let them know, that you know someone that helps people going through similar situations to them. If they are receptive to the idea, but feeling particularly low, you can even offer to make the appointment enquiry for them (with their consent of course). This can be truly helpful.

16.01.2022 Did you know that some Medibank Private heath insurance packages allow for counselling? I now have a Medibank Private provider number, so it may be worth checking with them if your policy will allow you to use your bonuses for counselling.

16.01.2022 We sure are living in uncertain times right now. How are you managing that? Some people respond to anxiety by being super organised, others may appear to be in denial. They are both protective mechanisms and very normal. It is very easy to find evidence to confirm our fears if we look for them. It is equally possible to find reasons to be hopeful. Look for the people helping others. You will find them. Be one of them.

15.01.2022 Anxiety can be crippling. It can prevent you from living, dreaming, extending yourself, or even enjoying the present. Counselling can offer enormous relief to sufferers of anxiety. Do you know someone could benefit from some help? Let them know that they are not alone. Offer to set up an appointment for them. These are available online or in person.

14.01.2022 I would like to confirm that as of Monday 23rd March, Health Minister the Hon. Greg Hunt has confirmed that ALL allied health businesses nationally can continue working and are encouraged to do so. This includes counselling. However, I want to reassure all my new or existing clients that sessions are available online and are easy to set up. Please let me know if you would like to arrange this. 0421231427.

14.01.2022 Regional Australia has always struggled to get adequate care in this area. Unfortunately the current system for medicare funding is limited to Psychologists. Often, what people need is counselling and someone to support hem through their current situation. To see a counsellor you don't need a GP referral, and it does not go on your medical record. A qualified counsellor is trained in the same therapies as a psychologist. The difference is that we can not diagnose mental illness. We refer clients back through their GP to a psychologist if there is concern that this is required. If you know someone that could benefit form counselling, but can't access it, please let them know about my online video options.

13.01.2022 Very useful advice for how to be a comfort to people enduring a crisis.

13.01.2022 AS counsellors, our focus is always 100% on our client. So it is nice to get a little feedback. I got this lovely google review this week.

13.01.2022 Some information on workplace EAP programs and how they benefit staff.

12.01.2022 The great news for this week is that I am now also practicing out of the all new City Cave Stones Corner. They have a beautiful centre just opened at 433 Rd Greenslopes. I will be available by appointment on Tuesday evenings from 5pm and some Sundays. Call or text 0421 231 427. Please share with your friends who may be closer to this area.

12.01.2022 Thank you to everyone of you for such an amazing response to my page yesterday. Now,,, here's the thing. Due to the strict rules of confidentiality surrounding counselling, I can't be YOUR counsellor as you are currently a personal friend / Facebook friend of mine. However, I would love for you to recommend me to your neighbours, friends, in laws or colleagues. So long as I don't know them personally. I can easily do remote counselling as well. Goal oriented coaching on the other hand is different, and up for grabs. Thanks again. x

11.01.2022 I was asked today if I can help with general anxiety around Covid19. The answer is yes, I sure can. To back this up I also completed a certificate on the weekend Covid-19: Responses and Responsibilities by the College of Counselling. Please let people know they are not being foolish if they feel the need to reach out. x Please share.

10.01.2022 If you are having a hard time dealing with a difficult colleague it can consume your working life. This article gives some great advice, however, the advice can be hard to take when you are in the midst of the problem. Talking it through with a counsellor or coach can be really beneficial.

07.01.2022 At a time when the nation seems intent on blaming one camp or another for our recent tragic bushfires, this is a helpful article to keep things balanced.

04.01.2022 Welcome to my Facebook page. I am officially open for business. It is a very exciting time for me to be able to offer my counselling and coaching services to you and your loved ones. I will be making regular updates and have a website under construction. Please feel free to share my page with anyone and everyone. I can be confidentially contacted via messenger or by phone or text on 0421 231 427.

02.01.2022 I am really pleased to announce that I have my website www.marymackenzie.com.au now up and running. You can go straight to the page to make an appointment booking. Feel free to test it out and let me know of any glitches.

01.01.2022 How quickly things change. As of last nights announcements I will no longer be ale to use the rooms at City Cave. All consultations will be done via Zoom or telephone. If you need some help with this or feel uncertain about it please send me a message and I can talk you through it.

01.01.2022 Emotional Intelligence and why it is so important: A patient expects their Dr to have a high IQ, but they love them for their bedside manner. A scientist is expected to have proper research skills, but may not have the skills to market their findings. A school dropout can end up with a business empire and a massive public following. It is all to do with how we relate to other peoples emotions, and how we mange our own. We are all born with a certain level of emotional IQ, but the good news is that these skills can be taught and developed and enhanced.

01.01.2022 Instead of the standard New Years Resolutions, try a more balanced approach to consider what is working for you and what isn't.

01.01.2022 I love working form City Cave. It has such a positive, healing energy.
