25.01.2022 WANT or NECESSITY Sarah is after a sideboard, but I haven't got any, but look what she found instead - not needed but want, want, want ! Hall tables are so versatile and good anywhere in your home (I've got three!). This timber is so beautiful and with an update in a colour called "Black Sands" to match a side table, looks magnificent. Solid teak and sealed with satin top coat for protection. The original handles were fabulous, but snapped when going back on, but happy to say these ones work beautifully to finish this amazing table off. Thanks lovely, and enjoy your mother's day present to yourself

20.01.2022 What do I least like about updating furniture - Prep! Especially all the cleaning pieces need. What do I love most - finding this under dark stain. The most beautiful looking timber. This is 1 slab, so would have been a fairly big tree. Love love love

20.01.2022 White week , and you know I just looooove painting white . The hall stand is looking fabulous though! A little colour in between is needed for sanity. I couldn't find the colour fabric I needed, so what do you do? Paint it! Yes, the beauty of chalk paint. You just need to dilute the paint by about 10% and keep the fabric damp while painting. It will be sealed with wax and will feel soft and luxurious.

15.01.2022 DRAB TO FAB The table is Kassie's, but she needed some new chairs to match in. And just like that, something comes along and I grab them. Bought into the 20's with Dixie Belle "anchor" on the solid oak, ladder back, chairs and table base. Look at that tabletop. Clear Satin polyurethane was all that was needed to showcase that amazing timber. A flash of black highlights the cast iron bolts in the tabletop. The chairs have been finished with a beautiful "Provincial"inspired brocade. May you enjoy many a family gathering around your new dining suite

Featuring cabriole timber legs and beautiful carved detailing, these lovely Queen Anne bedside tables, not only offers storage, but will add an elegant touch to your bedroom. 12.01.2022 I had this sitting in the corner for quite a while. Eva went a hunting and she waited patiently for me to do it. This was a lovely piece already, solid mahogany, beautiful carved details and paneling on these lovely lingerie drawers. How beautiful has it come up in the ever popular French Linen. Unfortunately one of the original handles snapped when I was taking them off, so I had to replace them. I think the replacement provincial style handles are very similar and look just as perfect. 10.01.2022 I have two lovely sister in laws, who are celebrating their 33rd (60 really) birthday at the end of the month. I sent this special surprise down to Jennifer. She had made mention a couple of years ago, about a case that was upcycled by Jenny at Shabby Treasures down the lane, so thought I'd do one up for her, for her birthday. It was wrapped in wrapping paper, so she knew it was for her birthday, but got a call this morning, saying she loves it! Honestly, patience isn't her virtue . I really enjoyed doing this memory box up. Anchor with rodmell (purple) stripes and rodmell in the interior. Silver handle and locks and adorned with Prima transfers. The Brisbane tag was on the case when I bought it, so it had to stay

10.01.2022 You know we are painting the house - yuk! Anyway we've been here 15ish years and haven't changed any of the walls. The first photo (I forgot to do a before) was when it was being sold. 09.01.2022 Well the clear space didn't last long! Poor Jeff was excited for a minute Busy, busy, busy. Prep day today. The hall stand is solid mahogany and will look beautiful in a warm white with a timber tabletop. The fab details highlighted with dark wax. It will look very vintage . This piece is still available and is currently on sale at Antique Mahogany for $735, down from $1030! So a bargain at $320. The wine rack is also solid mahogany. I might make her classy in black and g...old. Bedsides sanded and will be in this lovely charcoal. These are client owned so not available I'm sorry. The wrought iron doors are from a TV cabinet. Just starting prep on this. I won't get to do it for a while. My favourite grey, French Linen, in a pair of bedsides, up for sale tomorrow. A couple of finishing touches and they'll be done. 08.01.2022 WELL HELLO GORGEOUS It's been lovely doing the greys last week. Liz snapped this up when I put it up a while ago. I even said it could be white . Nope, the beautiful French Linen was chosen. The timber top has clear wax and then black wax applied. It's very hard to photograph but gives it a beautiful washed look. Orginal hardware kept and looks perfect with this colour. This now looks sooooo French Provincial........ sooooo jealous I couldn't find a place for this. Thanks Liz, you'll love having this in your home

So, I think I'll do this gorgeous hall stand, with the most amazing details, as a charity piece, and all proceeds from this sale will be donated to Melissa. So proud of her. 06.01.2022 NEVER AGAIN (I think) What was I thinking! Do a full sand and do a leather stain - it better be worth it. This took so much time, I really don't think I'll do it again. I still have to do 3 more sands in different grits, to get it smooth enough to take a stain nicely. I'll show you over the next couple of days if it looks any good, otherwise it will be the usual painted base and timber lid

06.01.2022 Next lot of custom work dropped off. Lovely country style bedsides (I love this style) to be updated in a neutral light colour. This gorgeous silky oak, Art Deco, coffee table in a neutral or the new "Black Sands" from Dixie Belle. Still being decided on. I couldn't help but get the tops sanded. What a difference already! And........ The latest acquisition to the stash. Good solid timber, Australian made bedsides and this fabulous hall table

06.01.2022 SUPER CUTE FOR SUPER GIRLS "Could you do these side table into bedside tables for the girls?" "Sure can" I said One likes woodland creatures and pink, and the other likes Harry Potter and blue.... This is what they got...... Dixie Belle "Tea Rose" with a clear wax top. Hinges and knob sprayed gold to match. A little personalised woodland decoupage to finish Dixie Bell "Deep Sea" with Harry Potter magical decoupage. Hinges painted silver with a new silver knob and the top grey washed, to tie in with the dresser that was recently bought Chairs refreshed with the same colours. The blue with new striped canvas and the pink with new calico. I really do love doing things for little ones See more

04.01.2022 Liz bought a hall table like this off me a couple of years ago. She bought another one to match, so she now has twins . I love these beauties. Beautiful as a hall table or sofa table or good for tiny spaces to display your treasures. Updated in Chateau Grey (it is green) to match the other twin, and given a rustic distress. This colour really highlights the amazing fretwork. The top has been sanded back and nourished with clear wax, showcasing those wonderful swirls in the timber.

03.01.2022 You know I love getting your photos . Some recent pieces in their new homes - Bedsides in Sarah's Hampton style bedroom. I've now been blamed for the need to buy bigger lamps...... Oh well . They look fabulous. You can see the little ones I refurbished for her, in the background as well. Every one needs bedsides . The cats seem to like the Boho hall table! A beautiful pop of colour in a very neutral palette. It looks gorgeous Charlotte . And Eva snapped up the black buffet. She said it goes beautifully with her black dining suite . 02.01.2022 NOOOOOOOOOO These even fooled me! Dez dropped her bedside tables off for a refurb. I love this style so was excited to do them. Sander out......bugger! Veneer over MDF . I think I've salvaged them to give Dez the timber top she wanted. A beautiful charcoal (Zambucca and white) was picked for the base with the original silver knobs, cleaned and given a matt black finish. A custom teak/walnut stain on the tabletop. And I forgot to do a proper before photo. See, I really was in a hurry to do them

02.01.2022 Things come in runs. It's a wine rack kinda week. One is being converted to a bookcase/hall table. Sanded and ready to go. The other has to stay a wine rack (the top will be a timber top ). Let me know if you are interested. Now to decide on colours

01.01.2022 Mmmm ........... It's a Hampton blue called Cape current. Loved the shade on the computer when I bought it, but not sure I'm in love with it now. Not quite like the swatch on a computer screen. What do you think? I might change it to "Quiet Cove" which is a paler blue and is pretty close to the swatch. Which one do you prefer?
