16.01.2022 Sadly lots of lives lost overnight.

16.01.2022 As the days become warmer, we are beginning to see snakes emerge from their winter hibernation to bask in the sun and search for food and a mate. In north eas...t Victoria Eastern Brown Snakes, Tiger Snakes and Red Bellied Black Snakes are the most common and they are highly venomous. Here are some key points to remember about living in or visiting an area with snakes: 1. When left alone, snakes present little or no danger to people. 2. If you see a snake, keep calm and move yourself and anyone with you (including pets) away from the area. 3. Don't attempt to capture or harm snakes, instead call DELWP on 136 186 for further advice, or call a licensed snake catcher. 4. Maintain lawns and clean up around your house, because snakes are attracted to shelter such as piles of rocks, timber, sheets of metal and building materials. 5. Undertake first aid training and ensure your first aid kit contains several compression bandages, and if someone is bitten, call 000 immediately. 10.01.2022 This young boy was found on the ground near Taylors Bay but sadly passed away when I arrived.

10.01.2022 I found this boy this morning near Cathkin just left in the middle of the road. He is now resting in peace under a tree. Please stop if safe and check if you see wildlife on the road as there maybe a joey on board.

09.01.2022 Stay safe with this wild weather but keep an eye out in coming days for any young birds or possums who have have lost their home or fallen out of nest.

08.01.2022 One of the orphan joeys we have been trying to catch, is now finally in care. This girl was on the backroad near Thoms Rd. Hopefully we can find the one on Skyline Rd.

08.01.2022 This little baby Magpie was found on the ground. Sadly no parents were coming to feed him so he needed to come into care.

07.01.2022 Fledgling Magpie Season If you see me on the ground, hold tight, my parents are likely to be somewhere around! They may be out collecting my food or cha...sing away predators that are likely to intrude. Please give them time, and wait and see, they're extremely likely to return to me. As my legs wobble, I clumsily plummet to the ground. I’m just learning my bearings of how to get around. An exciting new world for me to see. Out of the nest and free as can be! Although I may not yet be able to fly, please don’t worry as I’m bound to get by. I can usually flutter and jump to higher ground. I can also communicate with my parents by emitting a sound. If you see me in immediate danger, please help and don’t be a stranger! If I’m injured, I need your assistance. Call your local animal rescue shelter to help secure my existence! Please don’t be tempted to take me home, and try to raise me on your own. I require experienced care, and a nutritious diet like my parents would prepare! I know you mean well, and truly thank you for caring. But when it comes to raising me, even my own parents can find it overbearing! If I’m too young and unable to be returned to my nest, (refer to flowchart) here’s something you can try to ensure I progress... Constructing a makeshift nest is easy as can be. Octopus straps, a hanging basket, leaf litter, then securely hang it up in a tree! Make sure you wait until my mum or dad return. If you see a parent attending to me, then there is no reason for further concern. If you’re EVER in doubt, do not fuss. Ring your local wildlife shelter and they’ll be able to help us!

07.01.2022 Thankyou Jacinta for making contact when she found this injured echidna at Taylor's Bay.
