22.01.2022 Today Marysville, Narbethong and Buxton Fire Brigades participated in a training event with other emergency services. Just as we were packing up we were called to a real incident of an unattended camp fire in Narbethong. More picture to follow in future posts regarding the large training event today.... Thanks to all the organisers and the role players. It was an extremely valuable learning experience for all who attended.

Fires for cooking, warmth and/or comfort are still allowed within some limits, but no burning off without a permit. And no fires at all on any declared Total Fire Ban days.... 21.01.2022 SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for DAMAGING WINDS For people in West and South Gippsland and parts of Central, East Gippsland, South West, North Central and North East ...Forecast Districts. Issued at 10:11 pm Sunday, 15 November 2020. DAMAGING WINDS SUNDAY EVENING AND MONDAY Stay Informed: http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/warnings/ Weather Situation: Strong and gusty northerly winds ahead of a low pressure trough expected to cross the State later tonight into Monday . Strong and gusty westerly winds then develop in the south and Grampians on Monday morning. DAMAGING NORTHERLY WINDS, averaging 50 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 to 110 km/h are expected across elevated areas (above 400m) of central and eastern Victoria this evening. DAMAGING NORTHERLY WINDS are expected to continue overnight Sunday into Monday, but will ease from the west behind a change which is currently over western Victoria and is expected to reach central districts early Monday before clearing the east during the afternoon. DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS averaging 40 to 60km/h with peak gusts of around 90km/h are possible about the south coast and Grampians during Monday morning, easing by the late afternoon. Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Geelong, Morwell, Traralgon, Sale and Bairnsdale. Strongest gusts recorded today: - 100 km/h at Mt Gellibrand at 13:22 - 98 km/h at Fawkner Beacon at 17:19 - 93 km/h at Melbourne Airport at 16:57 - 91 km/h at St Kilda Beach at 17:17 The Victoria State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Be aware that trees that have been damaged by heat or fire may be unstable and more likely to fall when it is windy or wet. * Check that loose items such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured and move vehicles under cover or away from trees. * Stay indoors and away from windows. * If outdoors, move to a safe place indoors. Stay away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways. * If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater. Avoid travel if possible. * Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees. * Stay away from fallen powerlines always assume they are live. * Stay informed monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency. The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 am AEDT Monday.

20.01.2022 At 1:48am on Sunday 11th October 2020, Marysville CFA responded to a vehicle roll over on Marysville Road near Granton along with Ambulance Victoria, Marysville SES and Victoria Police. Two people were treated by First Aiders from Marysville CFA and then by Ambulance Victoria for relatively minor injuries considering the seriousness of the incident. The road was closed for 2 1/2 hours to allow the emergency services and towing to safely clean up the scene.... As always, we ask locals and visitors to please be aware of the challenging roads in this beautiful part of the world. #MarysvilleSES #AmbulanceVictoria #vicpol #WeWorkAsOne

16.01.2022 If you are out and about on the roads at the moment please take care. Sections of the Black Spur and the Marysville-Woods Point Road have snow on the road. At 15:43 the Marysville and Buxton CFA, with CFA High Angle Rescue from Wandin along with Marysville SES, AV and VicPol were called to car off the side of the road near Tommy’s Bend.... Issued at 4:45 pm Friday, 2 October 2020. STRONG AND GUSTY NORTHERLY WINDS INCREASING SATURDAY Plan Image Weather Situation: Strong northerly winds over Victoria as a slow moving trough to the west gradually crosses the State. DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are LIKELY across eastern and central elevated areas (above 900 metres) from this evening, extending to all parts of the warning area above 400 metres during Saturday morning with peak gusts increasing to 110 km/h. DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 40 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of 100 km/h are POSSIBLE across remaining lower parts of the warning area from Saturday morning.
