25.01.2022 Another beautiful day in Paradise! We're keen to get out and about with our wonderful fresh produce....so eager, in fact, that we are having our first stall at Pomona Country Markets this weekend! See you there on Saturday 30th May from 7am, with a seasonal selection of freshly picked goodies. Here's a few of the greens, just about to be plucked from the garden.

24.01.2022 Love the Dagun Growers Market on a Saturday afternoon! Food for the mind, body and soul. Our well-being is reliant on good resource management and soil regeneration, and the sharing of practical and locally-workable ideas is the best way to ensure this is happening!

24.01.2022 Loving these rainy showers today! Don't forget to put in your order for fresh vegies and fruits from the Mary Valley - the online market is open until noon Tuesday. Here's the link: https://www.maryvalleycountryharvest.com/e-market/ Grower John at Phoenix Farm has a couple of great recipes for his custard apples. Peak sweetness right now! Give these a try: Custard apple smoothie... 3/4c of your favourite chilled milk, 1 small custard apple, seeds removed Nutmeg Blend milk and custard apple. Pour into chilled glass and sprinkle with nutmeg. Custard Apple Ice Cream 1 medium custard apple, 1 teaspoon lemon or lime juice, 500ml whipping cream Remove skin and seeds from custard apple and mash pulp, add citrus juice and blend. Freeze until mixture begins to set. Whip cream. Whip semi frozen fruit pulp. Fold cream into fruit pulp. Refreeze. Remove from freezer 1/2 hour before serving but leave in fridge. Serve with fruit salad or in meringue nests with creme de menthe or chocolate liqueur poured on top. Yummo!

24.01.2022 Something we can relate to just too easily! The challenge ahead for us here in the Mary Valley is to look to practices and crop selection that can evolve to provide food security even in adverse conditions. Hand in hand with this, is working alongside consumers to gain understanding and appreciation of the more unusual varieties, and how to incorporate them into meals that entice fussy tastebuds - harder than it sounds!

23.01.2022 How wonderful to be out and about a bit more! What a pleasure to be able to chat with visitors to the Pomona Country Markets on Saturday, whilst enjoying the warm winter day. Did you know....you can order ahead and pick up your bag of Mary Valley fresh produce at the Pomona Market on Saturday orning (so you don't miss out on those popular items!) or - from this coming weekend - on Saturday afternoon from Dagun Growers Market? Our online market is now open, ready for your orde...r! Here's the link: https://www.maryvalleycountryharvest.com/e-market/ The Weekly Bags will have a lovely selection of seasonal produce, or you can mix and match your own favourite items. These are held at Dagun Station on the 3rd Saturdays of the month, starting at 3.30pm (to give you time to buy your weekly supplies from the Dagun Growers Market!). Because of its huge economic effect, much research has been done, and there will be a lot of information to share. 01.01.2022 With the Covid-19 Coronavirus spreading in Queensland, it is a priority for us to keep our families, employees and customers healthy in the coming months. At the moment, there is no evidence of Covid-19 spreading via any food items and we believe our online emarket and our Saturday afternoon Dagun Growers Market remain safe places for you to access healthy, nutritious food. In an effort to increase hygiene at our market and on packing days, we are taking the following step...s: - We have increased all of our hand washing and use of hand sanitiser on farms and at market. - We are supporting growers and community members who choose to self-isolate. - We are reducing person to person contact during the transport of produce from farms to co-op packing activities, during packing, and during delivery to customers. For those of you who have not visited our Saturday afternoon market at Dagun Station, it is not very crowded and we will be encouraging people to maintain good hygiene while there. We believe that a small-scale open-air market stall is likely to be a much lower disease risk than a supermarket, for example. You can order produce and pre-pay online from our online market and have your order delivered to one of our regular drop-off locations on a Thursday afternoon, or pick it up ready packed from a special area at the Dagun Growers Market on a Saturday afternoon. http://www.maryvalleycountryharvest.com/e-market/ Again, we very much feel that our current outlets are safe places, but if that changes we will be exploring other ways to make our produce available to the community in ways that minimise close physical contact. Please let us know if you or any of your family members are not able to attend the market due to the risks posed by Covid-19 we will try to find alternate ways to make our produce available. Wishing everyone the very best! Mary Valley Country Harvest Cooperative
