25.01.2022 Don’t forget it’s the Father’s Day weekend. Celebrate in style with us over a memorable meal, it will make dads very happy

25.01.2022 We have said this before and will say it again - Our Rajbhog Thali is fit for a king It’s a set royal round platter of our top curries, appetisers, raita, rice, naan bread & dessert. Let us treat you like a royal at our Neo Indian restaurant in Surry Hills.

25.01.2022 There have been a few warm days in Sydney recently but don't be fooled: winter is coming and we don't mean Game of Thrones. It's time to seek out some warming comfort food. Curry is good all year round but really comes into its own in the winter months. Nothing takes off the chill like a buttery naan dipped into a rich sauce of our lamb shank curry (top of the picture). Alternatively, try the classic biryani where layers of rice, chicken, spices, and herbs are mixed and slow c...ooked for hours. We have done all the hard work so you can sit back and enjoy. Our terrace on Crown Street in Surry Hills has purpose-made awning to shield you from all elements. Winter or summer, you can dine in the comfort of our restaurant and savour unique Neo Indian cuisine.

24.01.2022 Spiral crispy donuts soaked in spiced maple syrup Are you drooling yet As you may know we like to give popular Indian dishes a Neo touch and make them just a bit more extraordinary. That is our theory, Masala Theory!

24.01.2022 King prawns in a rich and creamy garlic butter tandoori sauce, sounds good? Wash it down with our house special cocktails or mocktails.

24.01.2022 Bonda is a deep-fried South Indian potato snack that has various sweet and savory versions in different regions. Most common of which is 'Aloo Bonda' (Potato Bonda). Featured in this picture is our version - the Potato Bonda Pop. Crispy outside and soft inside, these deep-fried dumplings are made from spiced potatoes and served with our housemade chutney. And just to keep things interesting we serve them lollipop-style. Classic Indian cuisine with a contemporary twist - only at Masala Theory.

24.01.2022 You have tried samosa chaat, but have you tried our deconstructed garbanzo samosa chaat? It contains all the traditional elements but more fun. With each ingredient separated, you can identify and appreciate them better.

24.01.2022 Our lamb sliders (kheema pav) and cocktails like white panther are the perfect way to start your meal in our revamped restaurant. Availability is limited due to COVID regulations, book your table now.

24.01.2022 What do you think of our new signage? Next time when you walk pass it, don’t hesitate again, come in for a bite and drink with us. You won’t regret it.

23.01.2022 Those tiffin carriers on the wall are called dabbas widely used in India for lunch box. In the city of Mumbai, there is an extremely complex delivery system that hot lunches packed in dabs are delivered to millions of office workers in the city from their homes in the suburbs. Luckily our delivery process is much simpler, just find us on UberEats, Deliveroo or Menulog and choose your favourite dishes. (P.S Drivers are assigned by delivery companies; they are not employees of our restaurant.)

23.01.2022 You have had king prawns in garlic butter, but have you had king prawns in garlic burger as well as aromatic tandoori spices? This is another Neo invention of our restaurant. Don’t forget to check out the splash

22.01.2022 Okra or bhindi as it's called in Hindi is a very popular vegetable in India. It can be found in curry, stir fry or deep fry like what we have here. The batter is seasoned with a mixture of spices according to our secret recipe, each bite is crispy outside and soft inside, just delightful.

The revamped menu takes the Neo Indian concept to the next level, even the range of naan bread has been given a makeover. 21.01.2022 Meet our team. In an interview with @broadsheet_syd back in 2017, Yashpal Erda (owner, third from right) said there was a part of India that Sydney hadn’t seen. It was the modern side propelled by young entrepreneurs where tradition was mixed with globalism; moreover it was the food they ate in their childhood, mixed with what they saw on Instagram and enjoyed abroad. It is in that spirit Masala Theory was born. From funky wall murals to new take on food flavour and present...ation, Masala Theory encapsulates antiquity and modernity; you will still find classic Indian curries and comfort food, but we have made things just a bit more hip and fun. Visit us in the heart of Surry Hills and let us take you on a culinary journey like no other!

20.01.2022 Our Daal Ki Khichdi is an Indian style kedgeree that mixes lentils with rice and is served with raita, pickle, ghee and poppadoms. It’s ideal to share but we don’t blame if you want it all to yourself.

18.01.2022 Bhel traces its routes back to Mumbai and is often referred to as a 'beach snack'. It's a savoury dish made of puffed rice, vegetables with a tangy tamarind sauce. 03.01.2022 We're all familiar with The Three Sisters in Sydney's Blue Mountains but have you seen the epic Surry Hills version? Chaat is an umbrella term for a wide range of roadside foods that usually feature some kind of fried dough with various ingredients that typically create a spicy, tangy, sweet or savoury flavour. Our version is includes English spinach and chickpeas with sweetened yoghurt, date tamarind and mint chutney - over the fried dough.... And there we have it: Masala Theory’s Three Sisters Chaat. Maybe not as iconic (yet!) as the mountainous version but definitely tastier.
