17.01.2022 Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad(SAW) said what means, Fast when you see the crescent and break your fast when you see it. If the crescent is not visible complete the month with 30 days. Imam Abu Hanifa(ra): Global crescent sighting is when the crescent is sighted anywhere in the world. Apart from Imam Shafi(ra) all other schools of thought agree that it is permissible to follow crescent sighting information received from another country. Imam Shafi(ra): Local moon sighting - t...he crescent is sighted in areas where the sun rise and set at the same time. Sydney cannot accept when the crescent is sighted in Melbourne. Not one of the Four Schools of thought (Shafi, Hanafi, Maliki, Hambali) mentioned regional moon sighting. We at Masjidur Rahman Al-Jami’ee will be observing the crescent for the end of Ramadan tonight, Tuesday 11th May 2021 Although we are going to sight the moon this evening, we do follow the Hanafi school of thought, and therefore will accept any legitimate sighting from anywhere across the globe.
