25.01.2022 The Daintree Ferry is open to all travellers from the 16th May! Technically, from the 16th we can re-open. However we are restricted to 10 customers and there are new regulations to get our head around. At this point we are not sure re-opening would be economic. We will advise more when things become clearer.

24.01.2022 Our thoughts today are with the family of Dan Irby. Dan was a legend on the Daintree River and a true gentleman. Rest in Peace Dan, you will be missed by many.

24.01.2022 Good News one: Cafe is now open MONDAY to Saturday 11am - 330pm Good News two: We have been approved for a large increase in licensed area, so once works are complete, you will be able to enjoy a beer or wine on the lawns!

23.01.2022 With Black Sapote, and Abui crops in full swing, we have amazing smoothies for sale. The Black Sapote is like a chocolate milkshake without guilt, and the Abui has a Coconutty feel to it with caramel flavour. For the brave or adventurous, we still have Durian, and this makes a robust smoothie that packs a punch. Also a small amount of Yellow Sapote, the 'Boiled Egg' fruit, which makes a unique and delicious drink.

18.01.2022 These are the fruits from Masons Cafe Cape Tribulation that we use! (or hope to use) Back Row left to right: 1. Sugar cane - old style Badilla for juicing 2. Passionfruit yellow and purple - slushies 3.Durian - Durian smoothies and Durian and Blue Cheese Sauce... 4. Breadfruit - chips and Breadfruit Balls 5. Jakfruit - smoothies and vegan burgers Front Row left to right: 6. Carambola (Star Fruit) - Juice (unsuitable for those with kidney issues, oxalic acid) 7. Rambutan - delicious but no use for cafe :( 8. Black Sapote (Choc Pudding Fruit) - cakes and smoothies 9. Pommelo - juice or eaten straight up with Chilli 10. Cocoa - chocolate! 11. Matisia (Chupa Chupa) - smoothies 12. Purple Mangosteen - eaten straight up or juice 13. Abiu - smooothies Our farm is very productive at the moment so we will have lots of products this year! We reopen in early March.

18.01.2022 Remember we re-open in March 2020, date to be advised, but the swimming hole is open every day (unless flooding makes it unsafe). Snorkeling is not just for the reef. There are many fish, turtles and even eels (harmless) in our waterhole, and it is well worth bringing your gear. The Store (open 2 -5 until March) has cheap masks etc for sale too. 14.01.2022 We will be re-opening at 11am on Tuesday 10th March. This year we will be refreshing our menu and we will update you as the old goes out and the new comes in! We have had a great fruit season, and there will be all kinds of smoothies and juices featuring Black Sapote, Abiu, Carambola, Grumichama, Banana, Jakfruit, Passionfruit and Mangosteen. All grown on our farm. The old favorites like Croc Burgers will still be there, and the tasting pates will be more varied. Vanessa's Croc and Roo pies have made it to the menu, and we are planning some amazing cocktails for later in the year! Hemingways and Barrier Reef Brewing feature on our drink list too!

We are looking for someone with short order cooking experience for the season or longer in our busy café, minimum 30 hrs a week, and definitely more if it gets busier as predicted. With the travel bubble open, we offer employment to Kiwis! You need a visa permitting work. Wages here start at $26/hr, with $32/hr paid on weekends. Looking for a committed punctual person, who can work in a team. We are busy and cater to groups, so organisation ...and speed is essential. Onsite accom available, and rent can be partly offset by farm work, which is paid at award. (over $24/hr). The onsite accomodation is in an old farmhouse, which is airy and roomy, but a little rustic. It is only 100m from work, so no commute! 11.01.2022 You may have noticed our grounds looking a bit unmowed lately.....we were waiting on a new machine, and the old one blew a $2000 steering pump. But this bad boy arrived yesterday and turns grass into lawn!

09.01.2022 Every year the Douglas Shire does Carols by Candlelight'. This year the C word meant this was unlikely. So some talented individuals went ahead and did a youtube version, showcasing the area including Mason's Cafe. With stunning scenery including Rex Smeal Park, St Mary's by the sea, Four Mile Beach, Mowbray, Thala, and the Daintree, it is truly amazing. Well worth a watch! https://www.youtube.com/watch
