22.01.2022 This is the last group I guided. It was great fun, and a very committed group.

21.01.2022 Every now and again your past comes back to visit. I stopped at the Daintree Ferry booth the other day to drop local maps off and parked there was a familiar vehicle. It was our first 100 series wagon, a 1999 std, still at work, towing a big tool trailer. 977 FBC was our first comfortable tour vehicle. It had GXL split fold second row seats, and a custom VW seat in the rear. We could carry 7 passengers over 6 foot, and no knees were touching the seat in front. She never neede...d airbags, as the upgraded suspension was soft as a limousine. I have a soft spot for this car; when I bought her in 2001 she had a seized 4WD lever, having never been engaged I suspect. I made up for that as the images show. 977 FBC did the deepest ever Bloomfield crossing; a combination of flood and high tide negated the current, and we had to wind the windows up to stop the water coming in. It came 1/3 of the way up the windscreen. For more than 50 metres. She never missed a beat, even when a driver put the fan through the radiator and cooked her. New radiator and she was good to go, but the gudgeon pin noise and oil consumption was alarming so she got a new heart and marching orders, as her ten years, mandated by Qld Transport was up. 977 FBC turned 20 this year. I was pleased to see she is still going strong for owner number four. And STILL the same plates!

21.01.2022 This young Cassowary has made our orchard it's home for a bit and hangs around the Cafe and swimming hole. Here is it enjoying some fallen Quandong Fruit instead of my Rambutans for a change!

17.01.2022 Had a great morning with participants in the Wet Tropics Tour guide course run by Savannah Guides Limited. Some great discussion and an enjoyable day.

14.01.2022 1.Cassowaries are NOT endangered. Check if you want. 2. The Daintree has no active proposals for a bridge. Ring Douglas Shire 40999444 to confirm that if you want. They are about to award a 25 year ferry contract. 3. There are NO proposals for wider roads. NONE. 4. ALL of the freehold land is either zoned conservation, or under a very prescriptive town plan. 5. There is absolutely no danger to the environment from the proposed ZERO carbon microgrid. None.... If you are giving money to a 'philanthropic' organisation who is telling you different, great, but please think of the harm these people are doing to our community. The one that has seen this much increase in vegetation since 1974. And yes you can find these pics yourself, online. I love this place. I want to live here forever. The next logical step is green power. The day I turn off my diesel generator forever will be the happiest of my life.
