14.01.2022 This is a novel and a movie, at this time of unrest and racism, Im reminded that this novel had virtues and a wonderful inspiring message that would be appropriate right now. To Kill a Mockingbird It teaches lessons about tolerance, justice, racism, prejudice, and courage, among others. The content can be a bit iffy, as violence is one of the main issues, but I think it appropriate for age 13+ as its never graphic or too traumatising. Real curse words are seldom used, but... the word n****r is. A man is stabbed with a knife while trying to kill children. An innocent man is shot while trying to escape jail. Theres a rape case, that is handled very mildly and its brief, it explores the relationship between a white woman and black man. So, you decide on this one. Only you would know your own child well enough to gauge if this would be insightful or upsetting. The book and the movie teaches wonderful messages that could be helpful for all to hear. See more
