25.01.2022 HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE BUBBLE THEORY? . . It’s all about the reality of pushing yourself outside your comfort zone. . We will be going into depth on this in our upcoming ebook but here is the gist of it! . ... . Your current comfort zone is what you are doing right now. Each time you step out of it you are trying to achieve a new threshold. . . Sometimes it works and we push out our comfort zone to the new norm. Other times it doesn’t, we feel like crap and we retreat ‘back to the safe zone.’ (Or worst case quit all together. ) . There are high highs and low lows. The path is never linear! . . We encourage you to keep leaning into the discomfort because it’s worth it. Over time all those things right now you find uncomfortable will become easier and you’ll look back and wonder why on Earth you were every worried in the first place! See more
25.01.2022 Anyone else tried this way of getting into sub scap? I had never seen it before and it makes it so easy to really get stuck in and loosen the area off!
23.01.2022 WRONG! This is a really powerful quote! It is plastered all over the internet. Social media. It is even a tag line that finishes off someone’s email and I even just saw a shirt on eBay with the quote! . . YET IT IS NOT ARISTOTLE!! . . This is the epitome of social platforms! We have the power to do SO MUCH GOOD by educating the people that follow us. Yet with that comes responsibility to do unbiased research, present both sides of the story and get our facts straight! .... . This quote is actually by a man named William Durant who was trying to explain Aristotle’s work in simple terms. . . Aristotle wrote ‘As it is not one swallow or a fine day that makes a Spring, so it is not one day or a short time that makes a man blessed and happy.’ He also wrote - These virtues are formed in man by his doing the right actions. . Durant elegantly clarified ‘We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, this is not an act, but a habit’. . It’s not to say that the quote above isn’t super powerful! It’s just a great reminder to take what we read on social media with a grain of salt, use multiple and reliable sources to find our content and do the research!! See more
23.01.2022 DOES MASSAGE ACTUALLY HELP WITH DOMS? . . In 2017, researchers completed a meta-analysis (a systemic literature review) to evaluate the effects of massage on Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS). . When reviewing the studies that included 504, subjects they found that massage significantly decreased DOMS for the 3 days following intense exercise, compared to subjects receiving no massage. .... . Creative Kinase, a blood marker of muscle damage was significantly decreased across the studies when massage was received, and subjects were also able to generate more muscle force sooner, compared to those who did not get massage. . . So next time your clients mention a big workout or race coming up, make sure you let them know that a session afterward will help them get back on track. Book them in for the day after the event for best results. See more
21.01.2022 Hey guys, we’re in such a stressful time at the moment. We want to share as much quality info as we can over the next few months as we battle to get to the other side of this together. . 1. Remember you’re not alone. We are all in this together. DM or comment if you have questions. . 2. Daily To Do Lists! Here’s a bit of mine from this morning. Keeping focussed and ensuring we use this time really effectively is going to be crucial in determining how we bounce back.... . 3. Time - Don’t forget to allow yourself some time and headspace to do some things you enjoy, to relax, exercise and connect with the people you care about. We’re in a marathon not a sprint. . . Stay safe guys. See more
20.01.2022 This is an AMAZING video that helps us to understand what occurs with thoracic outlet syndrome and why remedial massage treatment can help manage its symptoms. Thanks @grepmed for sharing.
19.01.2022 Struggling for ideas as to what to share over this period? Here is a short video from Exercise Physiologist Erin Haske, one of the founders of Massage Tribe. Either post your over version or feel free to share! This continuous figure 4 stretch is a great movement to free up the hips, including the gluts. Over this people people are most likely sitting at poorly set up desks, in home offices. Offering advice about simple stretches and exercises they can be doing at a desk, over this period is a great way to provide relevant content to your social media community. To download and share this video on your insta account we recommend using a repost app or you can then share the video to facebook too. :-)
19.01.2022 Love this!! What we are looking for when we treat!
17.01.2022 Corona (WTF to do now! ) Planning Session - why did we wait so long to open the wine??!!! Hope you guys are doing ok today. (How about that emotional roller coaster!!) Remember we have time and it’s important to breath.
16.01.2022 A surprising number to look at is how much it costs you to bring in a new client to your business. If you track your expenses (please tell us you are tracking your expense!) using an accounting program, like Xero, add up all of your marketing expenses (including your website) for the last year and divide it by the total number of clients you see over the same period of time. It might surprise just how much it costs to get a new client through the door, especially when you have a team. This metric also highlights the importance of new client retention.
15.01.2022 How do you guys like to treat quads? Here is Thea showing a few techniques that help to improve hip extension and knee flexion. I’ve seen this technique done off the end of the table too. #worksacharm Shout out to Cam McEvoy And his fantastic ‘massage gloves!’ for being such a good sport and letting us film!
14.01.2022 NEED SO EXTRA BOOKINGS? . . Pick 10 clients you haven’t seen in a while and send them an email to check in. Not a lot of therapists do this, yet how often do patients tell you they should have booked in weeks ago! Sometime that small gesture and personalised touch is enough to fill your books. Imagine if you did this each week...
13.01.2022 Who else sends out Bday cards!!? Totally stoked with how our new ones turned out! We got these from Vistaprint and used a Canva template to create them! #loveagoodpun
12.01.2022 Another awesome video that helps us understand the movement at the hip and the role the deep external hip rotators play in mobility and stability! Here is a great visual posted by @zechariah_sportstherapist
11.01.2022 Hey team! Another great mobility exercise from our Exercise Physiologist Erin. This one is excellent for your desk workers with stiff hips. Particularly those who struggle to get up and actually move away from the desk. Have a watch and give it a try! It feels awesome!
10.01.2022 Rec ab, obliques & diaphragm release. When treating swimmers it’s really important to check thoracic range of motion and whether or not these anterior muscles are tight.
09.01.2022 SHOCKING RESEARCH shows that social isolation is more harmful to cardiovascular health than smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Additionally a longitudinal study and meta analysis of Loneliness and social isolation as risk factors for coronary heart disease and stroke for the following: . . Poor social relationships were associated with a 29% increase in risk of incident Corinary Heart Disease and a 32% increase in risk of stroke. .... . Study Size: 925 patient health records & 23 research papers met the study criteria.. . Research: Loneliness and social isolation as risk factors for coronary heart disease and stroke: systematic review and meta-analysis of longitudinal observational studies Nicole K Valtorta, Mona Kanaan, Simon Gilbody, Sara Ronzi, Barbara Hanratty Heart 102 (13), 1009-1016, 2016
08.01.2022 Not quite massage related but a really interesting diagram by Neuaudio highlighting some of the ways to decrease the risk of cognitive decline from The Lancet Journal
07.01.2022 Hi team, as you know we are in uncharted waters at the moment. If you’re anything like us the next few months is looking well, uncertain. . . So what CAN we be doing to get by? . 1. Focus on what we can change rather than what we can’t. A lot of stuff is out of our control right now. So spending time and energy focusing on that stuff takes away from the energy we can be using to work on what we can to help our businesses get by. ... . 2. What can we do without? - trawl the bank statements and get rid of any subscriptions/ unnecessary bills - the ones we all mean to get around to cancelling but never make the time. . 3. What stuff can we be implementing now so that in 3, 6, 12 months time when we see the other side if this we can hit the ground running? For example systems, blogs, video content etc . 4. Understand your numbers - What is the amount you need to be making / week or per month to keep the lights on? Don’t forget that as client numbers drop our operational costs can come down. So much of the hype at the moment is fear of the unknown. So the better we understand our numbers the less uncertainty there is around things we can control. . 5. Connect - As allied health professionals we are all in the same boat. Start talking with people, sharing ideas and connecting with people via Skype or email you’ve always been meaning to connect with but haven’t made or had the time. Linked in is also an under utilised tool in the massage industry. The more of a referral network you build now the easier it will to be to bounce back from this later. . . We’ve got this guys. If you have any questions or need any help feel free to contact us and we’ll do our best to get back to you. See more
06.01.2022 Food for thought! We just posted some research by Dr Frank Lin on our @justkneadit page about how to prevent the decline that often occurs with ageing. . The research tells us that two crucial components to maintaining health and preventing decline, long term are to avoid injury and maintain physical mobility and activity. . . As Soft Tissue Therapists we are in a unique position to create impact, as this encompasses a large percentage of what we do. As a group we have the power to directly influence people’s long term health and prevent decline.
05.01.2022 Another posterior cuff and lat technique with Thea from @nomoreniggles Being a good massage therapist is all about having a whole heap of tools in your tool kit. Not everyone will respond the same way to each technique. The key is to be able to pick the technique that is going to be best for the client and adjust if it’s not working the way you expected it to.
04.01.2022 When your Easter Egg Hunting skills are on point! Happy Easter Everyone!!
03.01.2022 When was the last time you learnt about another modality? Booking in to see someone like a Physio or an Exercise Physiologist helps you gain a deeper understanding of how massage can work in with these allied health industries. You can also pick up skills and techniques to incorporate into your own treatments. This is some our massage team learning from Erin, one of our Exercise Physiologists.
01.01.2022 Interesting way to get into sub scap! Anyone else use this technique?
