18.01.2022 Nothing changes if nothing changes Let’s talk STRESS. Everybody experiences stress. It is a part of every day life, and without it, there would be no growth Stress isn’t always a bad thing, though. We have GOOD kinds of stress exercise, starting a new job, learning something new, getting married, buying a house; and we have BAD kinds of stress working overtime, late nights studying, financial stress, relationship problems etc.... How we manage these stresses becomes crucial when it comes to performance on a daily basis; almost like a juggling act. Understanding how to navigate through stressful periods becomes important for all of us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Some of the key factors we look at when we help our Team manage their stress and workload are: 1 SLEEP Sleep should be at the forefront of all things related to performance. Are you getting anywhere between 7-9 hours of sleep in, daily? 2 NUTRITION Caloric intake is the overarching priority when it comes to performance. Nutritional quality comes at a close second place. Are you getting sufficient calories to fuel your daily performance? 3 REST & RECOVERY Are you employing the correct recovery strategies and ensuring you aren’t overtraining or overexerting? No matter how much we all want to avoid the bad kinds of stress, our ability to embrace the challenges of stress and learn ways of how to individually and uniquely manage it is very important. When was the last time you reviewed and assessed your daily performance and managed your stress/workload? Need a hand? Come and have a chat with us and let’s discuss how we can help you navigate through the ebbs and flows of daily life www.massiveworkouts.com.au [email protected] +61 425 354 004 See more

12.01.2022 THE ROAD TO RECOVERY Recovery is critical to effective training and is something that should be a key component in all training programs. It is the time allotted for your muscles to rebuild and repair and presents an opportunity for your mind and body to relax, reset and rest. Here’s some quick tips on how you can optimise your recovery to stay on top of your peak performance:... 1 Get some good The recommended amount is anywhere between 7-9 hours of sleep. During our sleep, the body will balance and produce hormones such as: HGH, adenosine, cortisol, and melatonin, all of which play a crucial role in helping our performance. Aim to go to bed at the same time each night and wake up each morning at the same time. 2 Power in the Breath Try out this practice of breath control (or pranayama): Breathe in for a count of four, hold for seven, exhale for eight and repeat the whole process three more times. 3 Stretch and get loose After you complete your workout, dedicate an extra few minutes to stretch and cool down. This will improve your blood circulation and work on your flexibility. Focusing on the breath while doing so is a great way to take your stretching to the next level to help initiate the recovery process. 4 Eat and drink Maintaining a healthy and balanced diet is a sure-fire method to helping you recover. Getting a good balance of proteins, carbs, and fats will provide the necessary building blocks your body needs to repair itself after training. Electrolytes and trace minerals such as magnesium and selenium are also important, as the body will lose them through sweat. See more
