03.01.2022 Last night we combined our educational Laugh and Learn session and social event. After learning about HR we competed in The Public Brewery's weekly Trivia Competition... we came second last, not bad for the only table of first-timers A huge thank you to Peter Maguire from Ridgeline HR for being our guest speaker. Key takeaways... Get a professional to create your employee contract templates so you don’t leave anything to chance - Negotiating wages, etc are fine but the contract must state if it is offsetting allowances, overtime, etc and it must meet the National Employment Standards. Make sure you are paying into Co-Invest Long Service leave fund. Redundancy - so much more on this topic than I ever imagined reach out to Peter to learn more. There are software systems available to help us with our HR that link with payroll software to help manage onboarding new employees, managing employee files, payroll details, and ensuring overall HR compliance. Building strong positive culture utilising our strengths and aligning with our values. Now that we have our head around a lot of what we didn’t know, it’s time to take action and ask any questions that have come up, put systems in place to meet our obligations, and create a positive and safe work environment. It’s a big conversation and one we will revisit again.
