24.01.2022 A cute jungle animal themed cake for Brittney’s baby shower. Sorry I need to share - I LOVE my job. This isn’t the cake I had planned to make. This cake is a reminder of how once again I chose work over my family. I overcommitted myself as I do every week and by the time it came to making my daughters cake I was so exhausted, emotional, angry etc. I had 4 hours to put my big girl panties on, decorate this cake, get cleaned up, pack up all the kids, desserts and cake and get... to my daughters baby shower on time. I can’t do what I do without the massive support and help I get from Rick and my kids. I’m physically not able to keep up with the running of the household chores, kids, meals and laundry etc. I’m left every Sunday feeling just like this, I would imagine it feels similar to being hit by a bus. My body aches, my wrists throb, my eyes are so blurry and sore, my head hurts knowing in a matter of hours it all starts again for the next weeks orders. I just want to cry. So to get to the point of my rant, I’m not wanting sympathy honestly I love my job. I’m a big girl and I have made the choice to take on the amount of work I have each week for years no one forced me to work this hard. I chose to work 7 days a week to work over a 100 hours a week on a regular. It has taken a huge toll on my health, my body, my mental stability, I used to believe panic attacks and anxiety were make believe, well they are definitely real, but more importantly the toll on my relationship and family. So as of July I won’t be taking as many orders each week, I will be taking a day or days off each week to spend with my family, or to just be normal and see friends, or family or do what normal people do. So if you try and book a cake in and get told we are fully booked please don’t try and make me feel bad for not squeezing in your order, please don’t call me personally after receiving a email saying we are fully booked.
