21.01.2022 Building approvals are booming in Geelong, with almost $250 million worth of new buildings given the green light in September, new figures reveal. 19.01.2022 Master Builders CEO, Rebecca Casson was quoted in Herald-Sun article on the changes to stamp duty announced in the State Budget. In Melbourne, stamp duty accounts for 5.6% of the median house price. This is the highest in any Australian capital city and something we’ve naturally been advocating to be changed, on behalf of our members. The 50% cut to stamp duty for new builds is an excellent temporary boost to this sector. However, further reform will be needed for Victori...a to keep pace with other states, given the predicted decline in population growth. Every dollar invested in home building has been shown to generate nearly $3 in activity across our economy. And every $1 million spent is estimated to generate 9 jobs. 08.01.2022 CEO Rebecca Casson spoke to the Australian Financial Review yesterday about COVID-19 testing on building sites, and how trials of new antigen testing could quicken that process and make it much easier for our industry. Rebecca also paid tribute to Incolink who have conducted more than 20,000 tests on-site since March and are conducting the trial.
