22.01.2022 UPDATE: Thank you for your help Queenslandwe've tracked down the family and we've been able to assure them that their memorials will be taken care of until we ...can return them to their place on Bowen Developmental Road. We couldn't have done it without you. *** An appeal to the public. Can you help us find the owners of these roadside memorials north of Mount Coolon? One of the memorials has a small brass plate affixed to it with the words My Mum Love Kye. As part of progressive sealing works of the Bowen Developmental Road, we need to remove the memorials until August 2021. We'll be returning the memorials to their original location (or as close as possible subject to safety requirements) but we'd like to inform the people who placed the memorials about their temporary removal and storage in TMR’s Mount Coolon depot. If you know who may have placed these memorials please contact our Mackay Office on 4951 8534 or 0418 970 165, or email [email protected] with the subject line Bowen Developmental Road memorials.

In light of this announcement and despite our best intentions to host the event, our Race Management team who are so vital to the smooth and fair conduct of the sailing, are now unable to travel. As such, we have made the tough decision to cancel Hamilton Island Race Week 2020. The entire Hamilton Island community looks forward to hosting Race Week and this is the first time the regatta has been cancelled in its robust 37-year history. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to all of the sailors for their continued support, especially in what has been a remarkably trying year for all. Full refunds for entry fees will be offered and processed to the credit card used at the time of registration within the coming weeks.
