25.01.2022 Thursday’s thought: Silostop Orange is an extremely thin, yet strong silage film that will suck down onto your silage pit or pile, creating a seal unlike any... other. Surface spoilage is virtually eliminated. You get more feed from your silage. Reduced labor time as it is easy to use and no waste silage to remove. Dry matter loss is reduced by up to 50% in the top 3 feet of silage compared to conventional silage sheeting. Aerobic stability is increased by at least 2 days, so silage on the face and in front of the cows stays fresh and nutrient rich longer. #justsaying www.silostop.com See more

20.01.2022 You can now claim accelerated depreciation on new fodder storage. Farmers receiving Farm Household Allowance that are forced to sell livestock during the drough...t may continue to receive FHA payments if the profits are deposited into a Farm Management Deposit account. Minister for Drought David Littleproud MP said the accelerated depreciation meant farmers could this financial year claim the entire depreciation for feed storages built last year. "Farmers need to store more feed for their animals during drought, and we're helping cover the cost of new sheds, silos and other storages," Minister Littleproud said. AgForce welcomes yesterday's announcement. Members can read more in our weekly industry email 'Action,' out this evening.

05.01.2022 Trust this finds you all well. Thanks to some extra help from Suzanne Holden and Ben Morgensen in particular, I have now been able to share this project with yo...u all - some of you may have seen it already but just wanted to fill in those of you who haven't. I will tag a few of you I haven't followed up with for a while Kyle Liesch and other UQ Gatton people to get it out onto your networks. Apologies to anyone I miss out! Any questions you think I can help with, please get in touch. HONOURING THE LEGACY OF TREVOR SCHOORL Thank you for all of your kind words and actions following the death of our great mate Trevor. There was such an overwhelming show of love at the funeral that we wanted to let you know how some of Trev’s family, friends and business colleagues have been trying to capture that goodwill and identify some practical ways of honouring his memory. As you know Trevor had an enormous impact on many people: their lives, their businesses and their futures. Trevor cared most importantly for his family and with this in mind, many people have enquired about how they can help ensure Trevor’s family have a secure future. To facilitate this, a fund has been established to honour Trevor’s legacy. The family’s first objective is to ensure Charlie (currently in year 11) and Abigail (in first-year university) continue on their education paths. The second objective is to contribute something back to the industry to which Trevor gave so much of himself, and from which he gained many personal and professional rewards. Part of this fund will support a bursary in Trevor’s name to be awarded to a young person so that they too can have the opportunity to both further themselves and contribute to the forage and dairy industries. The bursary will contribute to education expenses to expand the recipient’s knowledge and appreciation of the practices through which Trevor made such an impact: forage preservation, free stall dairy farming and practical dairy nutrition. There is no expectation or obligation on anyone to contribute to this fund, but if you would like to support this initiative, you can contribute to The Trevor Schoorl Memorial Education Fund by contacting anyone below or via direct deposit. SWIFT CODE: NATAAU3304B BSB: 084 938 ACC No: 30 501 5625 ACC Name: GM Schoorl ATF The Trevor Schoorl Memorial Education Fund Thank you for taking the time to give this idea some consideration. We will make contact again in the future to keep you updated with the implementation and management of the Fund.

01.01.2022 What are you using to protect your oxygen barrier film against physical damage? Did you know that our new and improved Silostop Anti-UV cover is designed with a... woven structure, which allows the wind to pass through rather than lifting the cover, even in very windy conditions. This woven structure also ensures that the cover remains cool and does not heat the silage. #silage365 #silostop
