25.01.2022 Update with our renovation works in Watsonia, bricked up an existing opening between the kitchen and living room areas, turning the living room into a 4th bedroom with built in wardrobe. Renovation tip, existing opening has been bricked up with solid red bricks similar to the rest of the original wall. Using the same materials to infill the opening will reduce risks of the solid cement plaster patch cracking in the future, similar materials will expand and contract at simila...r rates. Another option is to hang plaster board over the whole wall, plasterboard has more flex and generally results in less cracking than solid plaster. We couldnt use plasterboard on this wall due to kitchen cabinets being in the way. This wall could also be left how it is now with exposed bricks creating a great feature wall in the kitchen. Happy renovating all!!

25.01.2022 Mastercraft Construction is about to commence work on this brick veneer home in Watsonia. Scope of work includes, -Removing the existing flat metal roof and weatherboard clad extension. -Construction of a new brick veneer, tiled roof extension to blend in with original home consisting of a new ensuite, laundry, living / dining open plan area, and north facing timber deck alfresco entertainment area.... -Renovation work includes a full makeover to the original bathroom as well as built in wardrobes to existing bedrooms. 23.01.2022 Free clean clay fill in Greensborough area, being removed from site this week. Message if you would like some delivered in the area.

23.01.2022 Structural alterations to the existing brick walls have been completed, new timber walls have been framed up for the new bathroom / ensuite lay out. Almost ready for plaster then tiling!

23.01.2022 Our extension and renovation to this lovely old Edwardian home in Thornbury is ready for plasterboard to be hung! Insulation has been installed to the external walls and ceiling space to meet the requirements of the energy rating report as shown in these photos, other requirements were underfloor insulation and double glazed windows throughout to create a more comfortable home during Melbournes colder winter days and warmer summer days!

22.01.2022 INSULATE YOUR EXISTING TIMBER SUBFLOOR FOR AN ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY HOME! The pine flooring boards on this old Edwardian home in Thornbury were in poor condition. We lifted all the existing floor boards to the original section of the home, adding new joists for different wall positions, and straightened the floor where needed. As part of the renovation to meet energy rating requirements we are installing underfloor insulation stapled between joists before laying the panel floor to increase the comfort of the home, and reduce energy costs!

21.01.2022 Work has started on an extension to this existing Mill Park home, this extension will put an extra 2 bedrooms, powder room with wheelchair access and linen storage to the rear of the home. Work to the existing home includes a bathroom renovation and changing of doorways to existing bedrooms.

21.01.2022 Work is well under way to lock up this beautiful Thornbury Edwardian home. Fibre cement weatherboards in a traditional profile have been selected for the cladding that require less maintenance and painting in the future, and provide better insulation qualities over timber weatherboards. The new verandah has been hand pitched onsite with exposed rafters and turned posts for a traditional look to set off the front façade of this old home. Painting of the weatherboards is well underway in the colour sense from Haymes paints.

20.01.2022 After all the rain we have finally been able to pour the concrete slab for this extension. Great work guys!

20.01.2022 Roof tiles are on, windows have been installed, ready to brick this extension up with solid red bricks!

18.01.2022 Progress pics inside our period home extension for an ensuite and walk in robe for the master bedroom. Herringbone feature tiled wall although hard to see in the pics came up great in this modern ensuite.

18.01.2022 Completed on the outside with photos from the street front of this extension for an ensuite to the side of this Moonee Ponds period home, just needing paint. Posting more photos in the coming days of the finished ensuite with a herringbone tile feature wall.

17.01.2022 New post added at - Edwardian Home Extension in Thornbury

17.01.2022 Here is our master ensuite thats had the plumbing installed and getting close to ready for wall linings to go on. First picture shows the system for the toilet thats been installed inside the wall cavity before wall linings go on. Second photo shows the niche inside the shower and in wall mixers for twin shower heads located in the ceiling. All plumbing works have been completed by the boys at Lower Plenty Plumbing Service, now we are ready to install all the electrical before plastering. Stay tuned!!

17.01.2022 Demolition has been completed on the existing weatherboard extension. Site has been cut for the new extension, footings have been dug and concrete poured to engineers specifications. We are now ready for the next stage, install steel columns and brick sub floor to support the timber floor and wall framing.

15.01.2022 Update on our renovation and extension in Thornbury with the completion of the tiling to the main bathroom and master ensuite. These rooms are now ready for plumbing and electrical fittings and fixtures to be installed.

15.01.2022 Work is almost complete on the beautiful Moonee Ponds period home. We were employed to add an extension to the side of the home for an ensuite and walk in robe for the master bedroom. Pictures coming soon of the completed project.

14.01.2022 Update on our Edwardian extension and renovation in Thornbury, plastering has been completed along with ornamental feature cornice throughout the existing home and the new extension. Ceiling roses have been installed in the main rooms of the original home including the main passage way for an original look. Bathroom and ensuite have been lined with villa board for floor to ceiling tiling, waterproofing membrane (in green) has been laid on the wet areas. Now ready to do the fix out of all internal doors, architraves, and skirtings, tiling of the weta areas and internal painting! Stay tuned for our next update.

13.01.2022 Existing bathroom ready to be demolished, external window brick wall to be removed to create a large main bathroom / ensuite and separate laundry in the centre of the home.

12.01.2022 Our extension is coming along well! Timber subfloor is installed for the new living area, external walls have been built onsite and timer trusses are in the process of being erected ready for a tiled roof to match in with the existing home. Stay tuned for bathroom renovations in the coming weeks!!

11.01.2022 Extension is now past lock up stage with installation of timber deck and plastering all completed!

11.01.2022 Update from Watsonia, steel columns have been installed for the alfresco, bricklayer has laid the base with solid red bricks to match the existing house, concrete stumps put in ready for the timber sub floor. Brick wall to the existing laundry has been pulled down, making way for a large bathroom. More updates soon.

09.01.2022 Bathroom / ensuite tiling completed and all plumbing fixtures fitted off. Painting of timber work left to finish off.

06.01.2022 New home extension and renovation in East Ivanhoe to start in the coming weeks by Mastercraft Construction. Scope of works include, Construction of a new living room on stumps, bearers and joists adjacent to the meals room, demolition of the existing roof over the meals area and re pitch the whole roof for a seamless integration to the rest of the home.... Build a new north facing alfresco outdoor entertainment area with decking off the meals room. Installation of new timber sliding doors of meals area, bedroom 2 and 3. Remodel and renovation of the existing bathroom and Laundry. Stay tuned!

06.01.2022 Renovation completed by Mastercraft Construction on this small bathroom in Hawthorn. The owners wanted to modernise the existing bathroom and fix the rising damp issues in the sub floor. Hope everyone is well and happy in isolation!!

05.01.2022 Update from Mastercraft Construction. Free fill delivered in Greensborough Excavation under way in Greensborough to build a new seamless extension on the back of this weatherboard home. Existing flat roof lean too extension demolished, removal of existing retaining walls, concrete slabs, and bulk excavation under way.

05.01.2022 Bathroom has been stripped out, and existing sub-standard concrete floor removed to make way for a new timber sub floor and plumbing for services. Existing laundry which was built on the back porch of the original home has been stripped out and concrete removed revealing a lot of beer bottles under the concrete slab left behind by the original builders. New opening has been cut into the internal brickwork to create a door way between the new bathroom and master bedroom. Note, for structural support a flat steel bar has been cut into the head of the opening before knocking out the bricks to form the opening.

03.01.2022 Bathroom has been lined with villa board sheeting ready for floor to ceiling tiling. We use a professional waterproofing company to tank our wet areas that use the latest techniques like silicon tapes under membranes to allow for building movement in corners and floor joints for longevity of the waterproof membrane, ensuring we dont have water leaks causing timber rot in the future.
