14.01.2022 So much potential! When we first moved to the property we #farm on the #soil was very average. Heavy with a lot of #clay close to the surface made it not ideal for farming. We have spent years giving back to the #soil. Building it to its #potential. It’s not there yet but it’s soooo much better. I believe it’s a principle of life that in order to receive, we need to first #give! We see why happens to soil when we take,take take with no thought for the future. It literally loses its life. If you have stewardship over a patch of soil, use it wisely and it will serve you well for many years and maybe you will both reach your potential.



07.01.2022 I do not consider myself a sourdough expert by any means. I have been making sourdough on and off (mostly off) for almost 15 years. I have lost many jars of culture through neglect. I have wasted much flour feeding a culture I never used. I have tried so many different recipes or should I say methods really. Trying to find the perfect loaf. The easiest loaf. The most consistent loaf. Lately, I have been at it again and this loaf pictures here is THE BEST loaf I think I have... ever made. The flavour is great, the consistency is soft. The kids were most excited about the latter. They are happy to eat my ‘bricks’ because they like the flavour but this loaf they were particularly excited about because it wasn’t anything like a brick! This loaf, I didn’t follow a recipe, I didn’t even follow a method. I threw it together and used some of the basic principles I have learnt over the 15 years and hey presto I got my reward. Do you think we over complicate life. Try to follow someone else’s plan, recipe or method? Stretch ourselves beyond something sustainable because someone said this is the best way? Only to find it doesn’t really work for us anyway. I’ve decided to find my way and so it. Of course I will always be open to better ways but I will not always be looking at someone else’s way and trying to copy them.
