24.01.2022 Hi everyone just giving you an update to where things stand for the season. Currently there are no events able to be held due to the covid 19 situation, as the season progresses we are hoping this might change and the resorts will be able to hold events. With regards to the AMSA Championships - "Perisher are continuing to work through government restrictions and what it means for a range of operations and services, including events. At this stage, if we get approvals to ru...n events - we would be looking to run an event for Masters in September (combine the 2 Masters events we originally had on the calendar). We will know more once the resort is up and running, the end of June, and be in touch! " We appreciate your patience during this difficult time, rest assured that we are trying our very best to deliver the best possible season with a focus on staff and guest safety. 15.01.2022 The reality of Steve’s condition has begun to set in. The rehab team have confirmed that Steve will need 24/7 care for the rest of his life. Whilst we hold hope... for recovery, we are now planning for the harsh reality that Steve will need much more monetary support than we could ever have imagined. Further from the extensive medical costs that will follow him through his life, he will need modified living arrangements, disability vehicles, ongoing occupational therapy and many more things that our beloved Steve most definitely never budgeted for ever needing. While the government, through National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) may cover some basics, we are aiming to give Steve life choices & he really needs our help. Donation link: http://bit.ly/SLFightback Details on the medical side of things Steve’s brain is very swollen, which is expected following the clot that was left unattended for so long after his stroke. His stroke was large & located on the right side of his brain, meaning the areas around the stroke are needing to take on what the lost brain tissue used to do success of this is unpredictable. The stroke was likely caused by carotid webbing that affects normal blood flow to the brain, accompanied by an irregular and periodic heartbeat meaning Steve is on medication to reduce his risk of a secondary stroke. Steve currently requires physical assistance or supervision for all daily living activities. He had overhead tracking to move in and out of bed and needed four people to help him stand with a steddy standing machine. His brain has forgotten to be aware of the left side of his body. Steve’s working memory and cognitive function have been affected by his stroke, with his orientation to time and place fluctuating, often thinking he is on the slopes or surfing somewhere. To top it off Steve now has a suspected bowel infection, meaning we cannot visit him for a few days whilst we wait for results. Hospital procedure means declaring the ward an infection risk and only Layla and Kerry can visit. Anyone that is vulnerable cannot see him, so his mum Noelene must wait. With those that can go in, being required to wear full gowns, gloves and masks and are no longer able to touch or massage him or bring him any treats. The Steve Lee Support Tribe are managing all of his socials and communication channels, it is not Steve in person (he fiddles with his phone but isn’t able to actually use it). We appreciate all of the messages that are being sent through & whilst we may not be replying to all, know they are being read out to Steve when possible. The severity of Steve’s condition is really beginning to take its toll, but we are so grateful for the continued support as we prepare for reality, whilst hoping for recovery. #steveleefightback Steve Lee’s Support Tribe
