22.01.2022 EXAM TIP #1: The 10 minute reading time - What to do This works well for Maths and Science exams as well as many others. Read through the paper and list, on a piece of scrap paper, write the order of questions from easiest to hardest that suits YOU best! Stick to that order as you do the exam and you will find two advantages: ... (1) You build confidence as one by one you answer competently the easier questions. That confidence may be just the difference when you tackle the harder questions. (2) Most likely, as you answer the easy questions, you will ‘make’ time. That is you complete them in less time than expected. This means you have more time for the harder questions and/or checking your work. Good luck! And listen out for Tip #2 tomorrow.

21.01.2022 STUDY TIP >>> TIP #1: Produce a Study Timetable within the first 3 weeks of starting back at school and STICK TO IT! Be sure to include leisure time (yes, you can still have fun ), include any sporting activities and other commitments within this timetable too

21.01.2022 EXAM TIP #3 Mental block - What do I do? Say you come to question 3 and you have no idea what to do! Spend NO LONGER than TWO mins pondering what to do. Then move onto the next question in your sequence and return to 3 when you have been through the rest.... This has two advantages: (1) You don’t waste valuable time sitting looking at the question in a daze! (2) When you eventually come back to the question you have a ‘new set of eyes’. Elsewhere in the exam there will be a question(s) that relates to the same topic as the one you couldn’t do. Having done that one you see things differently. Look out for more tips tomorrow

13.01.2022 EXAM TIP #5 This may be an obvious one... But get some exercise daily to ‘clear the head’ and to de-stress and be sure to snack on brain food. Keep your body and brain well-fuelled with foods that aid concentration and memory, such as fish, nuts, seeds, yoghurt and blueberries. On exam day, eat a nutritious meal before the test, based on foods that will provide a slow release of energy throughout. Sugar may seem appealing, but your energy levels will crash an hour later. It will make a HUGE difference! So put down the Redbull and grab a bag of almonds!

07.01.2022 EXAM TIP #4 Complete ‘old Exam Questions’ from the RG or online ‘to death’. Generally FORGET THE TEXTBOOK questions as they do not reflect Exam standards. Good luck and we will give more tips tomorrow

07.01.2022 EXAM TIP #2 Take control of time! You know how long your exam is. You know how many marks in total the exam is worth. Allocate time to each part of your exam on a proportion basis and so that you have ample time to check all your work! For example: Maths Methods. The exam is 3 hours (180 mins) long. The maximum number of marks is about 145. ... Allocate one mark per minute (so you aim to spend 10 mins on a question worth 10 marks). You will then have ample time, up to 35 mins, to check your work. You can practice timing yourself NOW, before the exam. You can take in your own watch or clock OR use the official clock. Use the gaps that you can't explain to show you what you need to learn/understand. 4. Don't answer from general knowledge, answer from what you learned in that course.... 5.
