12.01.2022 'Always Was, Always Will Be.' That is the theme for this year's celebration of #NAIDOCWeek across the country. 'Always Was, Always Will Be.' acknowledges that hundreds of Nations and cultures covered this continent. All were managing the land - the biggest estate on earth - to sustainably provide for their future. ... Long before European settlement, First Nations People were the first stewards of our country. One of the core Benedictine Values is Stewardship, and St Benedict calls on us to foster a fundamental reverence toward the creation that God has made. In the sprawling grounds of Mater Dei, we are especially aware of the beauty of the land around us and reflect that its traditional custodians are, always were and always will be the Dharawal people.

08.01.2022 We've hit a lot of important milestones this week in #MoveIt4MaterDei! Firstly, we made it half way through the challenge! Secondly, so far, we have moved for over 104,000 minutes.... That is the equivalent of driving from Sydney to Perth... 42 times! Not only that, in just such a short time everyone has contributed so much to the kids and Young Adults at Mater Dei. Last week we dared to dream big, and you all delivered. Over $50k and counting - you are all amazing. EDIT: Previous version of the post incorrectly stated 140,000 minutes instead of 104,000 - which is still Sydney to Perth 42 times. Still, a massive achievement!!
