15.01.2022 A1 GRAND FINAL TEAM SELECTIONS The A1 grand final takes place at Marchant Park 10 this Saturday and Sunday against table-toppers Pine Rivers. It would be great to get as many current players and old boys down to support the guys as we can.... Half of the side hadn’t even been born yet the last time Mater Hill won an A1 Summer flag (1990) and we will leave everything on the field to try and lay that record to bed.

Ayliffe-Jones 2/30 (6) N.Rogers 1/17 (3) Well that’s a winYou heard, we took the premiership. Such a satisfying win against a team that smacked us around for 426 in round 7. We arrived to a Marchant Park 4 that looked up and down. We lost the toss and were sent in. This, in the end turned in our favour as the shower of rain that hit made the pitch even more up and down . We had best of the pitch. Merrick and I opened the batting hoping to get a quick start. Merrick fell in the 2nd over from a full Bunga that he hit and inside edge then going onto the stumps. 1/5 and in came Millan. We put on 102 in quick time before Millan got caught out for 25. 2/102 and in came Chris . He and I put on another 69 until i did a lazy sweep to be out for 95. Chris continued to play very well to get his first ever. Congratulations Chis well done mate. Chris batted with most of the order who also made starts. Ray 18, Manish 15. Total score 300. We were down our best bowler as Chris had done a hamstring in is huge innnings . Manish and Scotty opened the bowling and we struck early with an edge to keeper Jeff off Manish bowling. Scotty bowled really well keeping the run rate down. Paul came on and bowled the house down with a 10 over spell that claimed 3 wickets. Young ex Carina Junior Bryn bowled very well to scalp 2 wickets . Along side him was Nathan who got the important wicket of one of their best bats. Next was the big fella who hit 111 of 40 balls in round 7 against us. Well good luck with that old mate on a damp Marchant Park pitch. He hit a few boundaries until Merrick cleaned him up in a great spell that made the game in our favour. From their Valleys tried hard but were to far behind the run rate. Great win with a bit of help with Mother Nature. I would like to thank all the boys for a terrific season were we all contributed.
