24.01.2022 This morning at assembly, Mr Reicher presented Year 7 students with the NRSV Catholic Bible as a gift from Mater Maria College. The aim is to help the students become more familiar with our very important sacred texts and develop their relationship with God. We'll be using the bibles in our Religious Education classes, especially this term as we study the Life and Times of Jesus. As preparation for receiving the bible, students chose their favourite scripture passage and decorated a calico bag in which they will keep their bibles. We hope that in the years to come, students will grow in appreciation of the richness of the text and treasure this gift.

23.01.2022 The Service section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award encourages young people to volunteer their time & to understand the benefits of this service to their community. Two of our Bronze students Cruz Hudson & Hamish Wares have been serving the College community in their own time helping Robert Scheffers to keep our school grounds beautiful. They've painted lines on the oval, picked up rubbish & cleaned the bins, put up the flags, removed fruit stickers from tables & chairs, polished the Marana floor & sanded the wall in the carpark. Great work boys for taking such pride in our school & making it a pleasant place to be.

22.01.2022 Yesterday, our Year 11 English Studies and Standard English students were treated to a presentation by Andrew Fraser, the producer of the film Lion, the inspiring uplifting story of Saroo Brierly who became lost on a train in India at the age of five. After surviving life on the streets, he was taken into an orphanage in Calcutta and adopted by a Tasmanian family. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to gain an insight into the creative process undertaken during the production of their core text. #lionmovie #MaterMaria
