20.01.2022 Today we celebrate Mercy Day, the anniversary of the day on which the founder of the Sisters of Mercy, Catherine McAuley, established the House of Mercy in Baggot Street, Dublin in 1827. Mercy Day is a time for us to pause and reflect on the true meaning of mercy. Each interaction, whether with a colleague or patient, presents an opportunity to demonstrate mercy in action and continue the traditions of the Sisters of Mercy.

17.01.2022 With #masks now playing an important part in our defence against #COVID19, hear from our Director of Infectious Diseases, Dr Paul Griffin on how to safely put on and take off a maskensuring you are minimising the risk of transmission from the mask to yourself and those around you. It is also important to remember: Masks should be changed when they become damaged, soiled or wet.... Masks should never be reapplied after they have been removed. Masks should not be left dangling around the neck. Avoid touching/adjusting the front of the mask while wearing it. Masks need to be removed for eating and drinking and this is permitted, necessary and safe. 17.01.2022 No two pregnancy journeys are the same. Each mum-to-be has their own story and path from conception to birth and while we always hope for a healthy pregnancy, for some women they may need to spend some extra time at Mater Mothers’ Hospitals before birth while their pregnancy is monitored. As today is Occupational Therapist day, we took the opportunity to chat to Mater Occupational Therapist Mary Matthews and her team about the programs they have created to make these unexpected and stressful times a little easier. We also caught up with mum-to-be Jessica who has experienced this firsthand. Click here to read more: http://mater.li/OT

01.01.2022 Today is World Prematurity Day Join us as we take a moment to honour the 1 in 10 babies born too soon, and those who lost their fight to survive. We would like to acknowledge the wonderful teams who work around the clock taking care of Mater’s tiniest patients. ... Director of Mater Mothers' Neonatal Critical Care Unit Dr Pita Birch, said his team does an outstanding job taking care of not only babies but families as well. We see nearly 2 000 families come to our hospitals each year, some will only need to stay the night where as others can be here for months. The impact of the NCCU will last a lifetime for these families, Pita said. Check out the amazing Jacaranda wall in the NCCU which was made by one of our amazing team members. #MiracleBabies #PrematureBabies #WorldPrematurityDay2020 #matermothers #materlittlemiracles
