19.01.2022 Love @heidiapples. Normalising sleep with babies when I was sleep deprived with my first born. Having comfort, this season does not last forever and listening to my intuition in supporting my daughter to sleep. Sometimes you just have to block out all the 'expert' advice and do what you are comfortable with #breastfeedingtosleep

18.01.2022 What We Really Want!!! TIME, TIME AND MORE TIME. Time to rest, have a sleep in. Time away from cooking, cleaning and shopping. Time to have a whole coffee in peace. Time to have a massage or a relaxing bath. It would be really appreciated if you have put time into a thoughtful gift as well. A favourite home cooked meal prepared, a clean house, a special family outing organised to enjoy together, we will love that too!... We do not want more things or stuff to clutter the home (unless we explicitly asked for it). Be thoughtful and creative. Show us that you care and appreciate all we do, to contribute to the family. Hope this helps hubby xx

07.01.2022 It is Maternal Mental Health Day today. The life changes and identity shift when you become a mother can be very overwhelming for some women. Add in sleep deprivation and hormones fluctuating up and down, women experiencing these challenges during pregnancy and postpartum are more vulnerable to mood and anxiety disorders. Seeking help early from health professionals, friends, family and not hiding the realities of how you are feeling is so important as I experienced in my ca...se just starting the conversation about your daily struggles opens up the lines of communication for someone to feel safe to talk about theirs as well. You are not alone. A little self-compassion goes a long way too, we are all doing our best in our own individual circumstances and that’s all that matters. To hopefully take a little pressure off ourselves, stop and live in the present. I feel so passionate about mental health awareness as I have been in the darkest places at times throughout my life and in postpartum. Without the help of professionals and support from family and friends I wouldn’t be where I am today in my healing journey. Please start the conversation with a safe person who you feel comfortable with to help you on your journey. Reach out, I’ll be happy to help #maternalMHmatters #maternalmentalhealthawareness See more

03.01.2022 Our children’s birthdays are celebrated for the year! My daughter turned five in April and my son has just turned two on the weekend and it had me reflecting on my transformative journey into motherhood and reminiscing about their births, each being so different. One was full of anticipation, ‘how hard could it be’ attitude, not doing any preparation learning about the importance of movement and breathwork in labour or any breastfeeding basics. My naivety in the amount of... support I needed in raising my daughter through those long cold winter days at home alone. Not being able to ask for help or feeling ashamed to ask friends for advice as 'I should' know how to care for my daughter. The toll the sleepless nights had of my body and mental health. The anxiety of her not sleeping longer naps so I could get more rest. Not knowing this was all normal newborn behavior and being able to relax and enjoy this sacred, fleeting time with my daughter. Second time round with my son, it couldn’t be more different!. I called in all supports. We hired a beautiful local birth doula to support us emotionally and give my husband an opportunity to have a break from supporting me and seeing me in pain during labour. It was money well spent, she was a great support to me and squashing all those fears I had coming up from my first birth, giving me the space to carry out my wishes and the courage to push on to the most amazing birth experience. I had the courage to ask for support from loved ones to visit 'me' and help at home with cooking nourishing meals and entertaining my 3yr old daughter at that time. They helped me have the opportunity to rest, care for my son so I could tend to my daughters needs one on one and her transition becoming a big sister and sharing her mummy for the first time. We hired a fortnightly cleaner to help with our floors and bathrooms bliss! At times it was still difficult as I was learning to be a mother of two children and feeling really stretched at times by both their needs, my husband’s needs and trying to fit mine in the mix as well. But I had the experience behind me this that this scared time is brief, and the struggles I am feeling in that moment will ease and to remember to ask for help from my village, that I have built around me. With also some professional help when needed to ease the struggles in my mind. I feel so proud of myself, and our little family my husband and I have created. Plus, my new baby (my business) coming along nicely too. I am so incredibly grateful to be able to support mothers in my community and see them and their family’s flourish. #bawbaw #warragul #cardinia #drouin #gippsland #westgippsland #latrobevalley
