23.01.2022 Maths....Its all Greek to me! In mathematics, we often use letters of the Greek alphabet to describe unknowns. Especially in geometry, statistics, and trigonometry. Why? Heres a handy guide to the greek alphabet.

23.01.2022 Did you tho? This is a BIG FOCUS for Term 3 - - - writing out all the steps of our working out. Programs like Maths Space and Maths Pathways are excellent for the revision of key concepts, but the assessment methods for Maths haven't quite caught up. ... Students still need to be able to explain their working out, old school pen & paper. That's one thing we will be working on this term...

23.01.2022 I BELIEVE IN YOU Even when its hard... Even when you didnt get it right the first time...... Even when weve been over it many times... Even when youre just not feeling it... I believe you can. You should too.

21.01.2022 TERM 2 *early* WRAP UP Im picking up some serious Ive hit a wall vibes from parents and students this week and I 100% GET IT. This term has been incredibly challenging and a huge learning curve for educators (including me!). ... The way students have adapted to the changes this term has been amazing. Weve clocked up over 250 hours on Zoom for this term (WHOA!) REMEMBER... If you didnt get the grade you were chasing, its not the end of the world....Its one term, no biggie. If you feel youve missed something key, dont hesitate to ask for help. If you missed something, chances are your classmates did too.... If you did get that grade, thats amazing! Well done to you, your parents and your teachers. Year 11s & 12s... get ready for a huge term 3... YOU GOT THIS. Get a revision plan sorted and get set for externals. If you need help with this, please reach out. Thank you Maths families I appreciate your patience and dedication this term! Now - bring on the June / July holidays!

21.01.2022 Lets embrace making mistakes in maths! Write in pen, not pencil - do away with erasers! Check your answer - taken ownership for checking if you got it right or wrong, especially if the answers are in the back of your textbook!... Take note of questions you got wrong and focus on those ones at revision time. Do you understand why you got the question wrong? If not, ask someone - youll learn so much more this way. Have a go. Even if you dont think youll get it right.... have a go. Growth before grades.... And that means feeling comfortable with making mistakes.

19.01.2022 QUEENSLAND PARENTS **All Students will be back at school 25th of May** As an educator and a parent, this has been an unbelievable time. ... Parents, teachers, kids --- everyone. You're simply amazing! SOME OF THE THINGS I'VE LEARNT IN ISO-LIFE 1. I've seen some students really struggle with the changes, but others have improved their maths significantly and are thriving with online learning. One thing they all have in common?... They miss their mates. Online learning has been great, but there's no substitute for in-person learning. 2. Zoom is amazing. It went from 100 million to 300 million users in 3 months, almost without a hitch. This should be the new standard for education tech (OneNote, eLearn, Teams etc). To have our core tech system fall over is not good enough. 3. Maths is the ULTIMATE real-world skill. ***Infection modeling - yep, that was maths. ***Should I pull money out of my super? - another maths problem. ***How much toilet paper will I need to survive an apocalypse? .. also...maths... 4. I learnt what a homophone is. Thanks Google! Also, I discovered I can not teach my own children. I don't know how homeschoolers do it....they have the patience of saints. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT IN ISO-LIFE?

03.01.2022 THERE MAY ONLY BE ONE ANSWER But there are many ways to get there. Take multiplication for example.... ... Some students like visual methods like the box or area method. Some students prefer mental strategies to reach an answer. Some students like algorithms (or what most parents call 'the way we were taught it at school'). The only right way to do it is to do what's right for you. Do you agree?
