23.01.2022 Beautiful Austalia.
15.01.2022 "Vanity Hannah" (Wide100cmxLong152cm) When I was a young kid I always loved owning a mask of a funny cartoon characters and superhero’s. In 2009 I took another step in sculpture and created something that reminded me of that childhood memory. I thought of doing something very different like a solid face mask or head of a beautiful woman, called Vanity Hannah! I pictured the finished work looking like a mounted head, the same way that people put stuffed animal heads on the w...all as ornaments such as wild boar and deer except mine would be a woman’s head styled like a Victorian queen. The background is a combination of green leaf patterned fabric with a splash of butterfly fabric on top and a grey piece behind the head which gives an old fashioned feel to the piece. In this piece I see a story of that portrait; to me Vanity Hannah is a serious but wise woman like the queen of an empire. See more
14.01.2022 "Beautiful Australia" (Wide124cmxLong100cm.Canvas,oil paint) This artwork started when i was thinking on a particular day about painting an image that was a collage of images that represented Australia. I then started searching magazines, newspapers and second hand books for Australian images and as i did, started to see which iconic symbols i would eventually put on the canvas. The final result is believing, one of the best oil painting i have created to date. There is a de...finite mixture of moods in this painting from outback and rural to modern urban which is represented by the various iconic symbols which include; Sydney Tower, The Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Uluru and The Three Sisters along with some of our iconic native wildlife such as the Koala, Kangaroo, Kookaburra, Possum and Dingo. Then there are the portraits of the child and the woman which along with the Australian and Aboriginal flags demonstrate that we are many different individuals and cultures yet we are one people and one national identity. The mixture of all these elements helps us to see and remember what it really means to identify ourselves as Australian and what a beautiful Australia we live in. See more
07.01.2022 "Collate Orange" (Wide 91cmxLong92cm.Canvas,Oil paint) There’s something about the colour orange. It’s a very attractive and friendly colour to all those who love it and the orange in this painting is like the kind of orange you would see in the 70's. But this painting also has many different textures like plastic string, glass beads, glass balls, foam balls, cardboard, wooden sticks, bubble plastic sticker, spray paint and oil paint on canvas. The larger deep orange circle in the middle is like the perfect shape of a record. Beside and below it are foam balls cut in half, two rough and two smooth which are like egg yolks. The overall effect of these elements is something very different but more of a unique painting/sculpture that was fun to look at and which blends together on the canvas which is why I called this - Collate Orange.
