26.08.2021 / : Temporary loss carry-back will be extended by one year; allowing companies with an aggregated annual turnover under $5 billion to apply for tax losses incurred from income years 2019-2023 to offset previously taxed profits. Temporary full expensing will also be extended until 30 June 2023, which will give eligible companies (aggregated annual turnover below $5 billion) the opportunity to deduct the full cost of eligible... depreciable assets (assets acquired from 7:30pm AEDT 6 October 2020 and installed ready for use by 30 June 2023). This extension of already-existing measures will provide eligible businesses more time to access to these incentives, taking into consideration the possible effects caused by COVID-19. 10.2 million individuals will benefit from the additional $7.8 billion in tax cuts introduced by the Government. By retaining the low and middle income tax offset (LMITO), the tax reduction will jump to $1080 for these individuals, or $2160 for dual income couples. A primary 'bright-line' test will replace the individual tax residency rules, which will as a result reduce compliance costs for globally mobile individuals and their employers while also providing certainty for them. The introduced primary test will run for a person who is physically present in Australia for 183 days or more in any income year, hence becoming an Australian tax resident. Businesses involved in debt disputes within the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) will be able to pause or modify debt recovery actions associated with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) Tax deduction of $250 for self education has been abolished while personal tax rates (Stage 3) for the population will remain untouched until the new legislations commence in 2024/25 / - .. .
