06.01.2022 Has winter got you fearing the flu or common cold? Is taking days (or weeks) off from work just not practical for you? You'll want to read about these 5 simpl...e ways to protect yourself during the Winter season - from a Chinese medicine perspective. 1. Dress warmly. Cold impedes circulation; if you're feeling chilly your body naturally works on overdrive to maintain function - wearing you out over the long run. Protect your kidneys (winter corresponds to this organ in Chinese medicine) and wear warmer layers on the legs and lower back. Consider a blanket draped over your knees when working at a desk. Keep your neck warm with a scarf. 2. Rest and retire. Pay more attention to getting a lot of sleep; go to bed earlier in the evening. Slow down and respect your body's need to conserve energy. Exercise regularly, but be mindful of moderating the intensity - slow and steady wins the race when sustaining immunity (warding off colds and flu) during the Winter months. 3. Don't overexert your emotional state unnecessarily. Emotions play a central role in the preservation of your energy. Minimise social obligations if you find them draining. Consider ways to relax and pay attention to your inner world. You could try some meditation/yoga to assist the process of letting go of your key emotional stressors (often derived from work, the commute or a demanding home life). Don't feel guilty about getting some much needed 'me time' - it will actually make you more productive and better able to support others. 4. Avoid too much dairy in your diet to reduce phlegm. Pre-existing mucus in your body only contributes further to the experience of poor health. Also limit alcohol, caffeine and overly-processed foods. 5. Eat with the season. Eat warm, cooked foods that are nourishing. One tip is to use a slow cooker to cook them for longer periods of time. Eating soups, stews, porridge and similar meals (using ingredients that are seasonal) are recommended to maintain health during the Winter months.

03.01.2022 We should stop the waste, iam not bothered if the vegies are an odd shape

02.01.2022 In today's Courier Mail. 'Acupuncture can be as safe and acceptable a form of pain relief as drugs for some emergency department patients suffering back pain an...d ankle sprains, the results of a new trial revealed'. This trial led by Melbourne's RMIT provides a great point-of-standing for raising the understanding of the benefits of Acupuncture to the wider public. This is alongside other valuable studies such as the Acupuncture Evidence Project - produced by AACMA fellow members Dr Stephen Janz and Dr John McDonald. It seems the place and purpose of Chinese medicine (incorporating Acupuncture) as a registered health service cannot be ignored.
