25.01.2022 The children in our Harbour Room at Matrix Port Melbourne started the morning off by making a fresh batch of play dough! Each child took turns to add ingredients into the bowl, and mix them all together. We added rose water to give our dough a beautiful scent, while encouraging the children to explore their senses. We loved seeing the amazing creations that were made, such as a tadpole, a snail and a hot dog!

24.01.2022 At Matrix Early Learning, we encourage children to play outside amongst nature as much as possible! Our outdoor environments invite open-ended interactions, spontaneity, risk taking, exploration, discovery and connection with nature. They foster an appreciation of the natural environment, develop environmental awareness and provide a platform for ongoing environmental education. There are multiple benefits to nature play which include physical and cognitive development to sensory stimulation, just to name a few. Both kinder programs are implemented and run by Bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teachers from Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. Our children learn how they affect the environment and how they can have a positive impact on their world. 21.01.2022 Harmony day represents a peaceful, loving and respectful Australian community where everyone has a strong sense of belonging. Children at Matrix Fawkner celebrated Harmony Day with a colourful performance. It was a great opportunity for children to celebrate diversity and harmony. We are proud of our children for putting on such a spectacular show.

17.01.2022 Miles For Smiles Dental Van visited our centre today to provide dental checks for our little learners. We spoke about the importance of brushing our teeth and eating the right foods to ensure our teeth stay strong and healthy.

14.01.2022 Extending on our childrens interests in Australian animals, Wendy from the Melbourne Museum visited us to teach us a little more!!

12.01.2022 Here at Matrix Early Learning Port Melbourne, we offer weekly music classes with Janet from Mini Maestros! We are very excited to recommence our classes later this month, and cant wait to see what Janet has in store for us this term. Our children absolutely love their music classes each week, and they are provided to our children and families at no additional cost! 12.01.2022 Kindergarten children at Matrix Fawkner visited Regis Age care facility last week. It was a short walking trip for children and they did well at their first excursion. Children had an opportunity to engage in a music session with the elderly members of our community. At Matrix, we encourage childrens participation in the local community and learn from real life experiences.

10.01.2022 Today at our Port Melbourne centre, our Island Room children enjoyed the sunshine and the amazing weather on our rooftop! They engaged in various gross motor experiences such as bike riding, parachute play, running races and climbing! Through physical activity, children develop the underlying skills necessary for balance and coordination, strength and endurance, attention, body awareness and spatial awareness. This directly links with the Early Years Learning Framework Outcome 3.2 - Children take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical wellbeing.

10.01.2022 Role play is an important part of child development as it builds confidence, creativity, communication and problem solving. Along with being a fun activity, it also allows children to get into character and act out real life roles.

09.01.2022 In March the children received a visit from an instructor named Lemin teaching and expressing African Drumming from 'Journey to Africa.' The children had an amazing time being able to express their emotions through drumming. Lemin was singing and dancing with the children and got them all up to enjoy the music.

09.01.2022 Our regular sports incursion have commenced at our Fawkner centre. This specialised program assists children to develop a strong sense of physical, social and emotional well being!

08.01.2022 This week we have been talking about Australia Day and the wonderful places we love visiting in Melbourne! Through our group discussions one of the places the children love to visit is the Melbourne Zoo. We created a beautiful learning experience using play dough and animals found at the Melbourne Zoo. Our children really enjoyed engaging in this experience as they discussed their past experience visiting the zoo.

08.01.2022 Our regular music and dance program at our Fawkner centre has commenced this year with Mini Monstars! Our music program incorporates fun decision-making games, playing instruments, singing, dancing and musical based games that allow the children to use imagination and creativity.

07.01.2022 We absolutely love family involvement in our program here at Matrix Port Melbourne, and yesterday we were lucky enough to have one of our amazing Mums join us for story time as part of World Storytelling Day! This special day celebrates the art of oral storytelling, and helps to instil a love for reading and literature in our children. @ Port Melbourne, Victoria

07.01.2022 Our centre celebrated the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by participating in various activities during NAIDOC Week. We also had an Indigenous incursion which delivered an interactive program showcasing face painting and games accompanied by the didgeridoo.

06.01.2022 Our menu here at Matrix Port Melbourne was created by Katie from Nourished Beginnings, who is a qualified nutritionist, and specializes in early childhood nutrition.All of the meals we provide cater to the childrens dietary requirements, are nutrient dense, include whole foods and only use natural ingredients. One of our favourite menu items is our kale pesto! We use this as a dip with veggie sticks, spread on sandwiches and mixed through with pasta! Our children absolutely love it and the best part is that it is so good for their growing bodies! Sometimes we swap the kale for spinach for a slight change. 06.01.2022 Scientific learning allows children to be curious, experimental and flexible in their thinking as they engage with interesting concepts and materials. Children at Matrix participated in a learning session with Jacque from Fizzics Education. The session involved children in scientific inquiry about a range of familiar phenomena and processes.

05.01.2022 At Matrix Early Learning Port Melbourne we offer specialist sports classes with Coach Dimitri from Evol Sports every Tuesday morning! We are very excited to have our sessions recommence next week after a short break over the holiday period. Our children absolutely love engaging in these classes, and they are provided to our children and families at no extra cost!

Being physically active every day is important for the healthy growth and development of young children, and here at Matrix we endeavour to include physical activity in our programs as much as possible! 01.01.2022 Today our Harbour Room children went on an excursion to Port Melbourne Library! We joined in on their story time session, which included songs and stories with Michael, one of the librarians! We had such an amazing morning out and about in our local community and we met lots of people along the way! @ Port Melbourne Library.
