20.01.2022 When I first started training with Nishihira Sensei after about a week of training and working in his kitchen he showed me an old mud coated sign he had stored under his stairs and he explained that it was Soken Sensei’s old Dojo sign. Sensei had taken me around to Soken Sensei’s House a day or so before. I was a little stunned that the sign was just tossed under the stairs. I asked if he would mind if I cleaned it as I thought it was pretty significant and should be kept ins...ide. He walked off and I thought I had done something wrong. A few minutes later he returned with a bucked and brush. I got to work cleaning up the old sign. I was very happy to see that it then lived in the Dojo from there on. The sign in Soken Sensei’s picture is different from the one Nishihira Sensei had but Sensei had explained that Soken Sensei had changed his sign at some point. I am not sure if this sign is the newer or older of the two. See more
