Just as they have in recent y...ears including last month’s Group One New South Wales Breeders’ Challenge Finals APG stock are aplenty in the Breeders’ Crown semi-finals at Tabcorp Park Melton tomorrow night. Conducted at Club Menangle on October 24, each of the four Challenge Finals were won by APG eligible youngsters. The quartet includes Bar Room Banta, Mach Dan and Soho Almasi which will continue their bid for consecutive majors during the weekend. Overall 30 APG Graduates will be in action, beginning with the two-year-old fillies. 16.01.2022 A WELL-DESERVED break before another feature campaign. That’s what is on the cards for exciting filly Captains Queen. Speaking after Captains Queen’s victory in... the Australian Pacing Gold Bullion at Club Menangle just moments ago, trainer Russell Jack outlined his plans for the youngster. Set to enjoy a quiet winter, Captains Queen will then be readied for the New South Wales Breeders’ Challenge. The futurity is scheduled to begin in October, with the $125,000 Final at Club Menangle on October 30. She’ll go to the paddock now, Jack said. I haven’t really worked out how long she will have off, but it will be as long as possible. She will be out for most, if not all, of winter before I get her ready for the Sires’ later in the year. Driven by Amanda Turnbull, Captains Queen began quickly to lead from barrier four as Te Quiro and then Miss Ex occupied the ‘death seat’. Forced to dig deep along the home straight, the daughter of Captaintreacherous scored by a metre-and-a-half from a gutsy Miss Ex, with Lets Party Baby two metres away third. That was a nice run and Amanda drove her to perfection, Jack said. We were pretty confident before the race, but she still had to get out there and get the job done. Getting an easy quarter in the middle helped and she got to the line nicely. Covering the mile in 1:54.1, Captains Queen took her record to four wins and a second from five starts for earnings of $100,220. The two-year-old’s defeat was behind her stablemate, Just Hope, in the Bathurst Gold Tiara. She is a very nice filly which has improved with each start, Jack said. 10.01.2022 The 2020 APG NATIONAL MIXED SALE The friendly and helpful team at APG believe another outstanding national sale is essential for the sport going forward to supp...ort consignors and investors/breeders looking to bolster their breeding operation. While we acknowledge the online sale concept is in its infancy, the result from last season’s sale was enlightening, successful and extremely encouraging. A great example of this would have to be Lot 578 from last week’s Sydney sale. The striking looking Badlands Hanover colt was sold in last year’s APG NATIONAL MIXED SALE for just $16,000 and, last weekend, was the beneficiary of some very spirited bidding selling under the hammer for $50,000 a great result. The 2020 APG NATIONAL MIXED SALE, which will operate similarly to an e-bay style auction ( like last year), provides the safest and most cost effective way to trade some of the elite Standardbred families available in this country. APG has again been approached by a number of vendors, each of which have a number of broodmares, racehorses and young stock that they are looking to move on. These vendors have requested APG's assistance to conduct another online auction to help find suitable homes for their stock. APG has agreed to conduct an online auction ( 2020 APG NATIONAL MIXED SALE ) to assist those particular vendors. However, APG has also decided to open up the sale to other loyal vendors in an attempt to attract a better balance of quality and quantity to maximise the success of the sale for both the consignors and purchasers. At this early stage, APG does not want to place a clear-cut limit on the number or quality of the horses that will ultimately make it into the sale. However, it’s to be noted that we want to look after the best interests of all parties involved. Therefore, horses will not be accepted if they do not have an fair chance of finding a new home, in our view. Having regard to both the commercial appeal of the horse and also to the vendor's expectations (as reflected by their reserve). APG will make more announcements regarding the timing of the sale over the coming weeks.
