25.01.2022 I dont often see these types of gains in one session. But when a concept is understood correctly by a talented athlete , that they have misunderstood for such a long time. There is a light bulb moment and gains can be found. (Clarity has been given) Case in point here with @luciusxander had misunderstood how his legs and hips were supposed to behave in an athletic fashion. How the forces used in the legs can alter path and speed and contacts. Lucius works hard in the gym on... and off the course. So unlocking his athleticism here in these amazing before and after still shots, was epic to see his eyes light up when he has been down in confidence. 25.01.2022 Explaining to a @teamgolfsg development squad player a rough guideline of what we looking for with the hips at impact. Also I find its beneficial to explain the opposite of what players do, by shining a light on players good habits and tendencies is vital for clarity of intent. I have a question for all the golfers : How much of the frustration in Golf comes from the poor shot/outcome ? VS frustration for not knowing how to fix the poor shot in the first place? A long but fruitful week, sharing , engaging , learning from one another about how to become better coaches. If we all become better coaches the athletes/students / clients we coach are the direct beneficiaries. ... A few key takeaway points for any aspiring coaches out there wanting to level up. 19.01.2022 LIE ASSESSMENT ! RESPECT YOUR LIE ! A skill that should never be neglected when coaching or training yourself. Experimenting with shots from varying lies. Your ability to assess your lie on a shot by shot basis determines what you CAN or CANNOT do with your golf ball. I always say Respect your lie, as sometimes you simply arent able to do what you want with the lie you have been given. Some examples of questions you could ask yourself when confronted with your ball sitting... on the ground waiting to be hit are: Can you spin your ball? Can I draw my ball from this lie ? Will my ball jump hard from this lie? Can I get my clubface on the ball cleanly? Can get under my ball to hit this high? Can I shape my ball from this lie? How soft/ firm is the ground under my ball and how will this effect my club as it enters the turf/sand? Will I collect any particles/ sand / grass / water / dirt in between ball and face and what impact will this have on my trajectory / spin of my ball? These are just some of the questions you must consider when faced with a variety of turf/ sand conditions. Sometimes you simply cannot play the shot you want to because the lie wont allow you to do so, in the end you must respect the lie you were given. I encourage you to experiment with different situations and different shots to find out what you can and cannot do ultimately. Once you know what you can do from the lie you are presented with this will clarify which shots you should attempt in certain situations. @ Singapore See more

Setting some parameters for lead wrist flexion / extension with young @teamgolfsg junior squad member @ethan_lim_jj providing a small amount of tolerance within the degrees of freedom in his wrist joint enables him to feel / hear the subtle changes and allowances in wrist movement to control putter face delivery and speed control. In Ethans case , we were reducing the ...extension in lead wrist in transition which was causing too much loft to be delivered into impact, thus effecting his initial ball roll. Playing with the eventual winner , who is a fantastic and deserving 2 time winner. #yuxinlin James gave himself every chance to win this week, right down to the 72nd hole. Pushing the limits on what he deemed possible. Getting more comfortable being uncomfortable. I couldnt be more proud that I am able to wor...k and serve these humble, respectful, hard working student athletes from Singapore. 16.01.2022 Discussion surrounding the role of the lead arm for @_n_a_t_h_e_n__ for pitching as he is making his come back from wrist injury. Nathen had a tendency to have his lead arm track too far outward on the backswing causing too much separation and insufficient depth, then he couldnt rotate effectively through the hitting zone, resulting in a club path too far left & an angle of Attack that was too steep to control distance. 16.01.2022 Here @teamgolfsg development squad player @daryllowzzz using a Putting station that I’ve used for many tour players and elite players over the years. This drill is a staple of my coaching for many reasons. 1: start line 2: aim point 3: speed control ... 4: ball gate 5: great visual aid 6: provides instant feedback. Hit just One putt on this station and you get feedback instantly on what you did well or didn’t. We all need feedback to get better at anything in life. Touch the hot stove with your hand and you get burnt (feedback is pain) so we learn not to touch it when it’s hot via this feedback. No different when putting. Did you push or pull the putt ? If so, it will hit one of the balls that acting as a gate. Did you miss the putt too high? Then speed was too hard and didn’t match the read. Did you miss the hole on the Low side? Then speed control didn’t match the aim point. I would typically set this station up on a left to right and right to left putt to help players on both breaking putts. How do you give your players feedback? When you have a station like this you can begin to self correct and self coach yourself to better putting. 15.01.2022 Lucky enough to walk the course with some of our @teamgolfsg athletes today as hey prepare for the @masteroftheamateurs event this week. Ive played a few Australian masters events on this course a few years ago back when I was playing professionally and it was always one of my favourite venues. The @vicgolfclub has undergone some renovations that are first class @cockingmike and his @ocmgolf team have done a tremendous job of subtly improving every corner of this golf cou...rse. Adding some new pinnable locations on the greens while keeping the greens as close to the original design as possible. The surfaces are 5star & the layout has always remained in Australias top ten. I think holes 10-16 could well be the best 7 hole stretch in the country. All of the worlds best amateurs this week will need to think and use their brain before they play any shot this week. 11.01.2022 Here we have one of our brand new junior squad girls @chloegolfs who is 12yrs old. Hitting a shot on a par 3 at @sembawangcountryclub during our on course training sessions yesterday. We have 6 new junior squad members that have been added to @teamgolfsg squad and here we are taking about how to exercise an efficient yet simple pre shot routine. Focusing on the acronym of #www Which stands for: ... - WHERE do you want your ball to start ? #startline - WHAT shot shape do you desire ? #shotshape - WHERE do you want your ball to finish? In this simple exercise players are asked these 3 simple questions to engage the creative side of the brain and use of #external images to help paint a picture of the shot they wish to play. Then they are required to tell me what shot they are trying to hit with start line and end goal. This never ceases to amaze me how well this works for ALL GOLFERS when they shift their focus from internal (swing related thoughts) to external - ball flight. It works!! His heartache loss at @aac_golf a few weeks ago is a distant memory as he used this to fuel his hunger to come out on top this week. 10.01.2022 Was a great week at @singaporeopengolf for our @teamgolfsg players. I also took time out to see some of the worlds best. Here we have @justinprose99 on the 16th tee late Friday. Going through his pre shot exaggeration drills. *disclaimer : I dont know what he working on. But my assumption is he is trying to get the clubs centre of mass #com behind his hand path in transition, which will free him up to rotate freely through the ball. Justin is very deliberate with his slow mo...tion #exaggerations of feelings during his pre shot routine. Something I love to get my players to do. As you can see what he is feeling is clearly not what is REAL (next image) during the Golf swing. (Camera angles arent great- apologies) but you can see the difference in similar positions in the downswing. The take home message here for all #golfers is this: when trying to make change in your #golfswing , it never hurts to attempt to do the opposite of what you are currently doing. We are creatures of habit and I am fairly certain Justin has been exaggerating this rehearsal for quite some time with lots of success. Even though it doesnt look like he achieved what he wanted it in real swing. The feeling and constant deliberate rehearsals are what help bridge the gap between feel and real. 05.01.2022 As most of you already know, coaching short game and putting has always been a strong focus of my golf coaching for quite some time - to have one of the world leaders in putting instruction @swashputting deliver a 2 day seminar here in Singapore was a special treat for me and the many other coaches who attended. Phil shared his simplistic approach to his putting framework, backed up by data and science based facts and of course his own personal experiences coaching the world...s best golfers to win majors. Validating some of my own beliefs, learning plenty more along the way. I must of asked him 50 questions to help clarify my thoughts , organise my putting beliefs in a way to better help golfers. 05.01.2022 This time last year I was packing our whole life & family up in Australia and headed to Singapore to embark on what has now been a life changing journey for our family. We are loving every minute of working/living in Singapore. Some great people to work with and exciting young athletes to train. Your hands are the ONLY contact you have with the club. Its important to understand what YOUR wrists do and dont do during the swing to ultimately CONTROL THE CLUBFACE. At the end of the day its what matters at most at impact. However, tidying up the start of your golf swing can help eliminate some unnecessary compensations which are required to square the face up at the end. Enjoy your weekend.

01.01.2022 Helping @teamgolfsg development squad player understand their own swing tendencies. @jilliankuk_golf Her upper body titled back behind the ball too much in transition from the top of backswing along with her hips sliding too much toward target on down swing resulting in a very shallow angle of attack and an excessive rightward club path (in to out) causing loss of compression, thin contacts and sometimes hitting ground before the ball. Here we are walking her through some dry drills (without ball) to help her understand getting her chest more on top of ball with a little squat and how her right wrist angle will feel with compression at impact.
