24.01.2022 -CONFIRMED- THE HOMO SAPIENS OPENING NIGHT FRIDAY 20 MARCH + free mask It's a really strange time for everybody right now. In particular those in the arts and entertainment world. And this is not just the creatives themselves, but the event organisers, gallery owners, roadies, curators, technicians... the list goes on. I know everyone feels a little down at the moment, especially those who are losing work. This week we are preparing for my next exhibition. It's probably the w...orst time to do this, but we must continue. I'd be so honored to have you attend this Friday night at the gallery. The exhibition is part of Art Month Sydney, and it's called - The Homo Sapiens. Pretty fitting with everything happening. We will have wine and beer to celebrate, the other Chippendale galleries will be open, and just for fun, I have made the first 50 people a personailsed face mask ;-) At this time, we artists need your support. 13.01.2022 I am thrilled to be chosen as a finalist for my favourite Art Prize - The Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award. This is Carl Vine, one of Australia's most celebrated composers. 10.01.2022 "Since 1788", oil on board. The mask has become the worldwide symbol of the modern human beings, from Covid-19, to the Australian fires to the riots of Hong Kong. With the first settlement, 70% of the First Nations People died for a virus. The disease affected entire generations of the Indigenous population, and survivors in many cases were left without family or community leaders. A silent deadly weapon.

Matteo Bernasconi's work is dynamic and engages the audience on philosophical levels. He believes that a painting works when it makes the viewer think and ask a broader range of questions. He is interested in exploring dark places that we normally don’t allow ourselves to explore but exist behind everyday life, and how, as animals, we react depending on the influences of our environment. He shows not only the mere physical appearance, the façade, but focuses on unveiling something else, unseen. He wants to expose what the subject is, not only who the subject is.
