21.01.2022 TRAIN YOUR WEAKNESSES .............................................. CORE TRAINING Step into most big box gyms and you will see athletes throwing in some sit ups or some other trunk flexion exercise, step into most performance based gyms and you will see a lot of anti-movement core exercises. Lastly we can train the core through things like rotational power exercises(eg med ball throws sideways). Before looking at how to train the core you must look at the main functions of... the core, effectively it is to stabilise the trunk and pelvis while our limbs move as well as transfer forces. Like most exercises the aim is to eventually progress to more complicated movements, in this case more dynamic (like the rotational power exercises) however as a good starting point begin training anti-extension, anti-flexion, anti-rotation. Here is a photo of @mgiof client @jcintensityxx completing Pallof press as an anti-rotational exercise in his initial phase of training. If the client is not feeling this exercise check their base of support, naturally a lot of athletes will widen their feet to stay balanced and effectively reduce the role of the core in the exercise. Stay tuned for a video series on training the core See more

19.01.2022 FMA Strength Institute Master certification day 2!

17.01.2022 @mjafari.22 putting in work lastnight ... until he was absolutely smoked! Good starting point, no major mobility restrictions and just a few weaknesses we will strengthen and develop some work capacity initially. Big things coming

16.01.2022 Have spent the past 7 days learning from Paul (Evolve mind & body coaching) becoming an NLP practitioner and time line therapy practitioner. some coaches and clients i know might be wondering why? i think Derek Sivers quote sums this up nicely. "if more information was the answer, then we'd all be bilionaires with perfect abs." in the coaching context this boils down to the fact that our clients are more than just a body and we need to learn about more than just biochemistry, anatomy & physiology to truely make a lasting change in some clients. For clients the bottom line is the results you seek might not be in that new nutritional or exercise program, they might be in managing your mental & emotional state. if anyone's intrested in how MINDSET coaching could help them, Private Message me :)

16.01.2022 ECCENTRIC TRAINING

14.01.2022 Great night lastnight breaking dan into presenting, we spoke to a group of student Osteos and explored how they can assess the body not just in isolation but as it relates to exercise and most importantly movement! we also showed them some of FMA Strength Institutes hands off methods to do joint/soft tissue mobilisations so moving forward they can save their over worked hands. lastly we explored some of the techniques we use at FMA to modify lifts to either reduce or increase the moment arm for different muscles/joints to either decrease or increase torque loading rather than avoiding exercises (fearing injury). For any Allied health professional looking to upskill i cannot reccomend FMA highly enough. for anyone who is still in pain and frustrated, message the page for a comprehensive introductory screen.

12.01.2022 Day 2 of 3 with Luke Leaman of Muscle Nerds learning a little more in depth on nutrition, physiology and biochemistry. As luke would say you need to know alot to teach your clients a little. so far Luke would have to be one of the best educators i have had the privilege of learning from, best of all his approach to nutrition is food first and then supplementation. so far we have taken a deep look into: Stress and ways this can inhibit so many pathways recovery and facto...rs that are often overlooked why it is important to beast mode your least mode why there is so much more to the equation than calories in vs calories out metabolic pathways and ways to assist them red flags to look out for with our clients See more

11.01.2022 Another amazing day presenting FMA Strength Institutes 4 hour workshop. Where we cover part of how we start to access our clients and how we individualise mobilisations right through to program design. a great group of trainers at Bayside Fitness First with a new found look on screening and a few big mindset shifts.

10.01.2022 Quick snippet of a new youtube video ... link below! Time is money! When clients invest their hard earned money with me as a coach I feel an overarching responsibility to be efficient with their time. Therefore I will always choose big bang for buck exercises/activation/releases/programs. Get the most amount of work done in the least amount of time. Not everyone is a personal trainer who can or wants to spend 7+ hours in the gym each week. With considering the above I woul...d like to introduce you to a breathing drill I learned from the boys down at Melbourne strength culture. I use this drill for a few main reasons. Including but not limited to - helping correct inverted breathing patterns which in turn . increase PNS activation . Decrease tone in muscles that take the lumbar spine into extension . Improve capacity for the diaphragm to contract allowing for a good negative pressure in the lungs and a full inhalation . Decreases use of scalenes, upper traps, pecs . Correct movement of internal organs that should move 2-3cm every breath. - Help teach good lumbopelvic control . This is easy with greater proprioceptive feedback from the ground - Help to teach how to get a good brace and create intra abdominal pressure .Hugely important for lifting heavy barbells and getting strong Special thanks to Marcus for being in the video. In my field I have worked from upskilling PT's to working in a commercial gym training everyday people day in and day out. There have been a lot of insights that have helped many people suffering from pain/lift related issues so I thought I would put together some content to share with you all. Make sure you subscribe to my channel and follow my social handles below to keep up to date with what I post. 08.01.2022 STOP STRETCHING YOUR PSOAS Often with tight hip flexors the remedy has being to stretch the crap out of these bad bo...ys. Well the problem is something's the psoas is the only dam thing holding you together. It's still fine to stretch and mobilize the hip flexors but if they (and the supporting muscles are weak ) try to strengthen them first . These muscles ATTACH TO THE SPINE and play a major role not only in hip flexion but also in spinal stabilization Here are the JSSP coaches testing psoas strength. First check the strength of the psoas and surrounding muscles ie glute max, obliques etc . If they are weak FIRST activate and strength them and see how that changes the "tight hip fexors" You might not even need to stretch them after all #mobility #personaltrainer #movement #tight #rehabilation #muscle #technique #legdayproblems #stretching #test #badexercises #stability #spine #psoas #training #exercise #education #pteducation #sports #science #testing #assessment See more

02.01.2022 Book in for your free performance assesment!

02.01.2022 IF YOU'RE NOT ASSESSING, YOU'RE GUESSING Quick joint range of motion testing tonight paired with testing individual muscle strengths. This allows us to :... - Complete an assessment of your current range of motion and individual muscle strengths - Prescribe individualised activation and mobilisation exercises based on the clients results - Re-test under the same conditions and compare the results I like to implement this assessment, intervention and reassessment system no matter what the clients goals as it gives us clear objective data as to if our intervention is working! If you want to take the guess work out of your program design or have any questions please PM the page :)
